PermaTreat is one of the largest pest control companies in Virginia, utilizing Integrated Pest Management practices in order to protect health, home and the environment. PermaTreat is also a proud member of the Virginia Pest Management Association, a trade association who’s mission is to proactively promote and uphold the professional and ethical standards which will result in quality business practices to the benefit of it’s membership and the general public in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

"Terrible company. They are not upfront about cost of services and tack on additional fees without informing you. This is a company that is only after the money and hook you into a contract. The product is not even very effective. I have watched them perform the service via my home security system while I have been away and the yard guard is a joke. They casually apply it around the perimeter of your home, but isn't it intended to guard your entire yard? This company is a joke. Never again."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Garden blankets and frost cloths are the best things to use to protect trees and plants from frost. They are made from polypropylene fabric, which is lightweight, breathable, and dries fast. If you can’t get garden blankets or frost cloths before the freeze, you should use lightweight blankets, sheets, or towels.

It may seem that doing an insulating project completely as a DIY task would be the most cost-effective way to accomplish it. However, professionally trained installers are experts at determining precisely what each garage needs in terms of effective insulation. Hiring an insulation pro and using batt insulation for the bulk of the materials will provide the best results for the least amount of money.

It is possible to insulate your walls without removing drywall, but it’s not a good idea to attempt the work yourself. A professional can use blown-in insulation or spray foam insulation to fill wall voids without opening up the walls, and the option they use typically depends on your climate and whether or not there’s insulation in your wall already that can remain in place. Spray foam insulation costs more and isn’t always a viable option, but it’s a better insulator. Call in an expert to help decide which is right for you.

Opting for insulated ducts can lead to significant long-term savings on your energy bills and contribute to a more efficient HVAC system. The precise amount you can save depends on various factors, including your climate, usage patterns, and the insulation's quality. However, on average, insulated ducts can result in savings of up to 20% on your annual heating and cooling costs, according to ENERGY STAR®.

It’s technically possible to install loose-fill cellulose insulation without a blower, but it’s much more time-consuming, tedious, and dangerous. You’ll need to wear the proper protective coverings to handle the cellulose after it’s been doused in boric acid; use a shovel when you can to transport the material from the bag into the wall cavity.

That said, if you purchase cellulose materials at a home improvement store, ask if they rent out blowers for free or at a discounted rate. In many cases, if you buy the material from the store, they’ll rent out the blower at no extra cost.
