"I highly recommend this tree service! We hired them to clear dead trees and clean up a vacant lot, and they did an outstanding job for a great price. They safely removed the trees, efficiently ground down the stumps, and cleared out all the thick brush. They even neatly stacked the usable wood for us. The lot looks fantastic, and their crew was professional and fast. Excellent work at a very reasonable rate!"

"I only write a review when a company has gone above and beyond with their service. I know there are so many companies to choose from but if you want an honest, fair, professional, caring and truly knowledgeable company this one is 100% the one to choose. You can't go wrong with them. I used the text message option to get in contact (that was a great option) with them and within an hour they showed up at the door ready to help with my tree problem. I learned more about trees in 10 mins than I've known my whole life. If you want the best company out there you definitely should use Virginia Tree Specialist. ? If there was a 10 star ? rating I would pick that because that's what they deserve"

Small jobs welcome

"Valley Tree Care showed exceptional customer service and did an amazing job. Jonathan took time during his assessment to get to know what I was after for the job and explain his assessment of the situation so we could come up with a plan that best fit the needs of my tree and the situation. He was great about communicating with me throughout the process. His estimate was the best value for what I wanted to accomplish and they did the job well in all ways from being considerate of us and our neighbors to cleaning up well. I would highly recommend Jonathan at Valley Tree Care."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Light-bark trees are most notorious for producing lots of sap when wounded. These varieties include maples, birches, poplars, dogwoods, magnolias, and elms, and they will bleed more when the trees are dormant. That’s why it’s a good idea to prune them in the summer months rather than waiting until winter.

A serrated knife will work for cutting off small palm tree fronds, about 1 inch in diameter. For larger fronds, you will need pruning shears. You may also use a pruning saw, and if your palm tree is especially tall, an extended pole saw can help you reach the brown fronds around the trunk.

The lifespan of a bird's nest depends on the species. The building process can take from two days to three weeks. Once built, the nesting period for baby birds can last from two to ten weeks before they leave the nest. While most young birds are ready in two to six weeks, some predatory species may need up to two and a half months. Some species nest four to five times per year, so a nest could remain in use for several months. For specific information about a particular nest's longevity, it is best to consult a wildlife professional.

Large, established tree branches won’t grow roots, but if you find a young tree branch that’s less than about a year old, you’ve got a shot. Put it in water or soil as soon as possible for best results. You’ll know the branch is viable if it’s about the thickness of a pencil and has some leaves or needles.

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.
