"Earth Right Mid-Atlantic was one of several companies we consulted for the installation of solar panels and attic fans for our new home in Williamsburg. The presentation, by Corey Argentino, was informative and provided a clear idea of the costs for various systems and what we might expect over time. We installed the reflective foil in the attic along with the solar powered fan over the summer and had solar panels installed in the Fall. The entire process was done in a very professional manner and the final results appear to be positive (we havenâ t had a full yearâ s experience yet to know comparable results). Once the solar panels were completed, and I downloaded the application to monitor them, I really like looking at the app and seeing how much power we are generating. Once we have a full year of experience, we may expand the solar panel configuration but only time will tell as we move forward. Earth Right Mid-Atlantic powered by Convert Solar makes a great team to help reduce our carbon footprint!"

"I wanted it fixed immediately and that meant they came on a Saturday so I expected to pay more for a weekend. They replaced the drain with a new one and it didn't take very long. It cost around $300 which I thought was rather expensive so short an amount of time and the problem. When I used the tub that night the drain didn't work properly to contain the water in the tub-it still drained slowly out. I called and they came a few days late to "fix it." After the second visit I drew a bath again and it still had a slight leak that made the tub water drain (very slowly) but I still wanted it fixed so it kept the water in the tub. When I got them to come a third time the guy "tweeked it" but he then informed me that he had done pretty much all he could do. He implied not to call anymore. For a $300 drain that took such a short amount of time to install I expected a perfect job. Very disappointing......

"When I moved into a new house in Maryland I was set on getting a solar system installed. After reviewing several proposals from competing companies I signed on with Nova Solar. From the proposal to the installation to the start-up of the system Nova Solar's attention to detail was none I have ever experienced working with subcontractors on my house. Their attention to detail was extraordinary. All of my inquiries and questions on the system were answered thoroughly and in a timely manner. There were several tax credits, renewable energy credits and grants that were available for my solar system and in my jurisdiction. Nova Solar made sure that each of the applications were completed and received for their system. When completed Nova Solar sent links to each of my electronic devices so I could have access to the system on line to track the daily energy production and to see any trouble with the system (which there have been none to date) at any time during the day. I have been in the subcontracting business for over 30 years and know a good subcontractor when I see one. I have had an excellent experience with Nova Solar and would highly recommend their services to anyone who is interested in solar energy."

"Well we were going to do a ground mount using re-purposed
metal, but there was not enough of it. So Renewable Engineered Systems designed
a system for the roof of the house. We Worked with Brian Brown who helped us
decide what to use. The solar panel
system is very neat. Get to watch my power everyday.

The average cost to install solar panels is around $26,600, and most homeowners pay between $4,500 and $53,000. Keep in mind that these prices don’t consider the federal investment tax credit (ITC), which can effectively reduce those costs by up to 30%. The price you can expect to pay for solar panel installation depends on the size of the system, where you live, the type and brand of panels, and the labor costs. Get price quotes from at least three solar companies in your area to find the best deal.
In most states, solar installers need to be licensed and insured as solar professionals, although some states don’t have specific requirements for installers. You can use our state licensing tool to check if an installer you’re considering hiring holds the proper licensing. No matter where you live, a member of your solar panel installation company must be a certified electrician to connect your panels to your home and the electric grid.
There are a few qualifying questions you should ask a local solar panel company before hiring them:
Will you handle permits for the installation?
Does your total price include the equipment and labor?
How long do you expect the installation process to take?
What kind of workmanship warranty do you include with your installations?
Who should I contact if I have a problem with my system after installation?
Do you install the panels or outsource the work to third parties?
Will you file for solar incentives for me?
In most cases, yes, solar panels are well worth the investment. Going solar with your home’s energy is expensive, but, in most states, the panels will pay for themselves by reducing your electric bills. Solar panels don’t produce greenhouse gasses or other pollutants, meaning you can feel good about using this renewable energy source to power your home. Plus, installing solar panels can boost your home value, helping your profit off your next home sale.
Yes, solar panel installation will require permits. The required permits will depend on where you live, as some states and cities have solar-specific permits, while others only require electrical permits to connect to the grid. In either case, it’s best to hire a reputable solar installer in your area, as a representative should handle all of the necessary permitting for you and will include the cost of the permits in your initial solar estimate.
