"Josh and his assistant did a wonderful job putting our kitchen back together after a water leak. Many repairs were needed and they did it all! They always showed up early each morning to get the job done. Josh is professional, friendly and most importantly does really great work. I felt at ease that the job would be done right. I was very pleased with the services provided and would recommend them to anyone needing small or big jobs done right."

"Miguel and team did an awesome job. They painted the interior of my home and my screened porch. They also put screen under my porch. When they were done they cleaned up the job sight and did a final walk through to make sure I was satisfied. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have work done around their home."

"Cougar Development did an excellent job creating a living space out of an addition to a home built in 1918. The drywall work was excellent as was the placing of needed electrical outlets and ceiling fan/lighting. Closet space is extremely hard to come by in our neighborhood and Cougar was able to build a 30 sq ft closet that our growing family is able to take advantage of. This room was just a storage space and is now a usable living area after Cougar was done with it. The quality of work for the price I paid was amazing! I have already recommended Cougar to those in my neighborhood and will continue to do so!"

"Ben was a pleasure to work with.

Even though this was not a big project, he was always prompt
and responsive.  He answered all our questions, was very fair
with pricing...the tile was somewhat labor intensive...and he
always left our house clean.

Very professional and a gentlemen.

Spectacular!

"Exceptional service!  We originally called Steve to ask if he could tell us if a certain wall was load bearing, as we'd never had to make that determination before, and didn't want to risk making a mistake if we took on the project ourselves.  He said he could, and we arranged a time for him to come to our house.  He was prompt, friendly, and professional, and he took a look at the wall (plus another one that we were also considering removing), and let us know that one was safe to remove, while the other wasn't.  We thanked him, and asked how much we owed him for his expert advice.  He said that we didn't owe him anything.  Since that was the only reason he'd come to our house, we were really amazed.  Out of curiosity, we asked him how much he would charge to take down the wall and get it ready for paint.  He said he'd put together a quote and let us know.  We heard back from him the same day with a quote of $1200, and said it would probably take a couple of days to complete the project.  We asked if he had a military discount, and he said he'd see what he could do.  We heard back from him very quickly, and he said he could give us a military rate of $1100.  We decided we were better off hiring him than doing the work ourselves, and made arrangements for him to come out in a week, when he had free space in his schedule.  However, a couple of days later, he called and said that upcoming rain had delayed another project, and he asked if we'd like him to come out earlier.  We said that would be great, and set up a time.  He arrived promptly on time, did the work quickly, kept our home as clean as possible during the project, and cleaned up after himself when he left.  He worked essentially 2 1/2 full days, then came back in the evening on a 3rd day to finish sanding after the mud on the drywall was dry.  His work and professionalism were exceptional.  We also asked him to take a look at an outdoor faucet, which he took apart and then explained which piece was broken and needed replaced.  He was willing to do the work, but explained how we could do it ourselves.  Because he didn't actually repair the faucet, he again refused to charge us for his advice.  The same was true for a couple of other issues in the house--he evaluated them, and told us how to fix them, then refused payment for the advice.  He was certainly willing to do the work; he just wasn't going to act like it was something that wasn't simple for us to do on our own.  We would absolutely hire him again.  He was prompt, honest, set a fair price, and did great work.  He was also an absolute pleasure to do business with.

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

Homeowners in Gloucester often balance cost and quality, such as choosing between standard metal siding and premium weathering steel for better coastal durability. Another common trade-off is design versus practicality, where large open spaces may conflict with energy efficiency goals. You also have to weigh personal preferences against county setback requirements and building code compliance, which can influence your home's final placement and features.

Helpful?

The longevity of a barndominium in Gloucester, VA, depends heavily on proper moisture management to combat high humidity and prevent condensation. Quality construction, particularly in the metal roofing and concrete foundation, is crucial for durability. Adhering to Gloucester County zoning and permitting requirements, along with designing for wind resistance against potential storms, ensures the structure is both legal and built to last.

Helpful?

In Gloucester, VA, a new barndominium's first five years focus on interior completion and HVAC optimization for the humid climate. The next decade often brings insulation upgrades and adding popular outdoor living spaces like porches. After 15 years, expect to address metal roof maintenance, foundation repairs, and potential electrical system updates to meet evolving needs and ensure long-term structural integrity in the coastal environment.

Helpful?

For a new barndominium in Gloucester, prioritize essential infrastructure first. This includes installing well and septic systems, which are common in rural areas, and ensuring proper site access with a driveway. Next, focus on climate protection with a comprehensive insulation package, a moisture barrier for Virginia's humidity, and storm-resistant windows to prepare for hurricane season before moving on to interior framing.

Helpful?
