"Troy took wallpaper off master bedroom and painted walls and trim. He also painted trim and cabinets in master bath. A helper of did pressure washing we asked for. The wallpaper job was a nightmare--3 layers of old wallpaper. He also patched an area of drywall where we'd had old light swtches removed. He stuck with this hard job and did excellent work. He provides a contact before work is done. We were very pleased with the job he did."

"I’m a fellow contractor and hired F&G Construction to help me complete a project. There were all types of different wood that needed to be matched up, drywall repair, and some painting and staining. He did an amazing job and the finished work was truly breathtaking!! I have been through many local contractors for drywall work, and I have never been so impressed. I look forward to working with Frank on future projects!"

"This is a great company. These people are very professional and very experienced in their craft. I needed a house cleaner and Maria came quickly and did a wonderful job cleaning my house. I have hired her to do my house cleaning. Her husband was able to fix my back French doors, the frames were rotting and needing to be replaced. He did this and painted the frame and the doors. He also painted several doors in the upstairs leading to closets. Everything was done with care and looks brand new. I would recommend them for any project you are thinking about having done. They are honest and reliable!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

There are several benefits to wet-sanding drywall, but the main perk is that it produces far less dust than dry-sanding. As a result, wet-sanding poses fewer health risks and makes less of a mess in your home. Plus, damp sponges are less abrasive than sandpaper, so there’s a smaller chance of scratching or damaging the drywall paper. Wet-sanding also creates a smoother finish than dry-sanding.

You should stagger drywall sheets to help prevent cracking. The joints between drywall sheets are the weak spots, so if you install drywall with seams aligned, you’ll create weak lines that run across the length of the wall and extend from floor to ceiling. But when you stagger drywall, the solid sections of panels will support the joints. This can prevent seams from cracking or separating due to fluctuating temperature and humidity, vibrations from movement inside the home, and gravity.

A utility knife is sharp enough to score the drywall and it may work in a pinch for outlet box holes. However, one of the best tools for drywall when you need to make exact cuts for an outlet box quickly is a drywall saw. This handheld tool has a longer blade than a utility knife, so it penetrates the thickness of the drywall easily. The design of its handle and the teeth in its blade make it easier to control while cutting quicker than you can with a utility knife.

It is more difficult to drywall a ceiling than it is to drywall a wall, but not so hard that DIYers can’t tackle it. One of the main issues with hanging drywall on your ceiling is getting it into place. Drywall isn’t light so, if you are hanging full drywall panels, you will need at least two (it’s better with more) people to hold the panel while you drill it into the ceiling as a single piece can weigh between 40 and 60 pounds and will need to be held in place for up to 10 minutes.

You can drywall an unheated garage because the material handles cold temperatures perfectly well. There are no risks or downsides to installing drywall in a garage that is not heated, and the material stands up to moisture and other elements quite well. Drywall will protect your unheated garage's electric wires and cables and add fire protection. However, for effective bonding, you should install drywall at a temperature of 55 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.
