"The installer Dustin was great! He was on time and professional. The installation was completed in about four hours as stated the job would be. I am happy with my water softener system and so is my skin!"
"This company serviced me the same day I needed my hot water heater. He was very professional and arrived at my house in like 40 minutes. Next time I need a plumber, I definitely will contact him."
"Reached out to multiple plumbing companies for a quote on a water treatment system I wanted installed. Tyler from Miller Plumbing solutions came out to my house and I was blown away with his knowledge and understanding of the treatment system that would work best for our home. He left me with options and didn’t pressure me into any Avenue . I had other estimates that were cheaper but each technician I dealt with seemed to just give me a price and didn’t have much more information on why. I’m very happy I went with Miller Plumbing solutions the value of their service was well worth it."
"Very professional, I called on Friday and he came right away to see why we had no water. He replaced pump and pressure tank for me. He worked on Sunday so I won't have to go too many days without water as he had another job on Saturday. He also found a couple of little leaks in my old cooper pipes after everything was replaced and fixed these for me. I am very grateful that I had to go only two days without water. He gave me advise about my whole system since I live in a very old house."

"We called Jimmy Perry, owner, and his wife was quick to respond while he was out on another call. They fixed us up in two visits: The first to get the burst pipe sealed and assess the situation, and the second to replace the heater. The Perrys (both of whom provide plumbing services) explained our options and the pros and cons of each. We opted for a conventional 80-gallon electric tanked heater, which Jimmy procured quickly, picked up himself and delivered/installed swiftly--within a couple of days. At the same time, he repaired a leaky main water valve and replaced a cartridge to fix a leaky Moen kitchen faucet. All of this cost us $950, which I note was about half the cost of a comparable heater we installed when we sold our home last year in the Washington, DC area, and about $200 less than another quote we got from a different local plumber, whom we did not use because we caught him making patently false claims in explaining what had to get done. The Perrys rmoved all trash and container material when they were done, policed the area, and placed belongings carefully back in the basement after moving them out of the way to make room f or the new tank. They explained what they were doing and planning at each step and were as polite and as friendly as old friends. We recomend Fluvanna Plumbing as highly as possible and without reservation. This is the third time they performed plumbing services for us and showed a consistent track record. "
"A good price was offered. Mr. Moore showed up when he said he would with advance text that he was on his way. Installation of water softener was done neatly and quickly and cost was as estimated. All seems to be initially operating well and as stated. Only time can tell if equipment is reliable so I have no comments in that area."
"Jamie did a fantastic job. Came out the day we called him to see what needed to be done. The next day he and his associate had the new hot water tank in quickly and efficiently. Spent time showing us how the new hot water tank worked and answered all of our questions. Would definitely recommend Smith Plumbing! "
"Came out the same afternoon I called to diagnose the problem in the dark. Came back earlier then the appointment to fix the leak of the water main going into the house. They fixed the problem quickly and professionally. Would definitely use and recommend them again."
Experts recommend that you put two to four bags of potassium chloride in your water softener every month. This amount depends on how much is in the bag (40 pounds is most common) and what your water softener manufacturer recommends. For more specific advice, talk to a water softener pro in your area and read the manual that came with your system.
Soft water is better for your hair. The minerals in hard water can dry out hair, make it brittle, and leave a film on the hair and scalp that may cause irritation. Hard water also doesn't rinse out shampoo and conditioner effectively, which can lead to product buildup that makes hair look dull and limp. You may also find you need to use more shampoo to get a good lather in hard water.
Because it’s been through the water cycle, evaporating and becoming slightly acidic thanks to dissolved carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, rainwater tends to be naturally soft compared to groundwater, which has just been in contact with limestone. However, the natural hardness level of water always depends on where you are and other factors.
Most experts agree there’s not much difference health-wise between hard water versus soft water. That said, hard water is more likely to cause skin dryness and issues that go along with it, like an itchy or flaky scalp. Hard water can also decrease the life span of your household appliances and make it more difficult for soap to do its job.
The main difference between a water softener and a water filter is what they remove from the water. A water softener is specifically designed to remove hard minerals, while a filter removes a wider range of contaminants above a certain size, such as bacteria and other impurities. If your primary goal is to remove minerals, a softener is the best choice. If you want to remove various contaminants for safety or taste, a filter is more suitable. Filters are also typically less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply's specific issues, you may need to install both systems for comprehensive treatment.
