"The work that was done at our house was more than exceptional. Charles knew the metal needed and the type of gate that we were looking to get installed. He was very easy to work with and made us feel that us as his customers were very much a priority. I will only recommend Charles Ornamental to others seeking welding work. Thank you Charles and your team in keeping your appointments and completing the work we needed for security and peace of mind!!"

"Cleaned wood stove pipe.    Repaired chimney masonry cap.   Installed chimney cap.    Restored 2nd rusting chimney cap.  Inspected chimney liners.   Good steady work.   Personable.   Also does decks and masonry repair.   Made suggestions and went a little beyond the request with an easy fix on an existing component.

"They responded quickly and fixed the pipe. The work was fine but a little expensive. My only reservation was price, but it has been a while, so I don't feel I can answer other questions about the company with a lot of confidence."

"CRS painting did a stellar job in terms of the quality of the paint job itself, as well as the clean up portion of the job.  Gerardo was very courteous, smart and helpful.  We never felt pushed in any way - Gerardo was willing to do exactly, and only what we wanted.  I would definitely hire the company again and have recommended Gerardo to friends for painting jobs as well as other house repair efforts."

"Work was scheduled to begin at 8:00 to 8:30 am but workers did not arrive until around 9:30 am and no call was made to let me know that they would be late.
However, once they arrived, both handymen were polite and efficient. The cabinet installation went quickly and looks good. There was a small tear in the wood pattern veneer of the new cabinet, but it may have been caused in shipping / unpacking and they were able to repair it with wood stain.
The grout repair in my shower and bath enclosures also went fine. However, they were not completely clear on the type of grout that I needed to purchase and it appears to have a different consistency than the rest of the tile grout.
They were unable to replace the squeaky front door hinge because the necessary replacement hinges were not available at nearby hardware stores. That's fine, but I did need to make multiple trips to the hardware store while the workers were there before they figured this out.
Overall, despite the minor issues above, I was happy with the value that I got for the work done and would use the provider again.

"Everything went very well. Had to take Miguel to home depot to get a few extra supplies. I had almost everything on hand for the work to be done but some simple extras were needed. Work proceeded on return and was completed without issue. Work took place in a friendly and cooperative manner."

"Tommy Harper of Oasis Decks responded well within the 24-hour response guarantee.  He gave us an excellent quote and was willing to go through what turned out to be a very painful permitting process including 2 trips from Manassas to Warrenton and 1 to our town to obtain both our County and Town permits.  Hello, fellow Fauquierians!, Tommy purchased a Fauquier County Business License just so he could take on our job so that tells you he wants to expand his business into our area.

It took 2 weeks to get our permit but less than 5 days for Tommy's crew to tear down the existing 30-year old deck and to build our new deck and fence.  Tommy's master carpenter, Pepe, turns out beautiful work.  He and his team work non-stop and take great pride in their work.  And, the results are outstanding!

You'll be very happy if you use Tommy Harper, Pepe and Oasis Decks for your deck and fencing needs."

"Very happy with Beiztell.  They provide a quote promptly after contact and stuck to it. They were in and out in one day to remove the old fence and replace with the hew fence.  When I arrived home I would never have known there were workers in my yard - they cleaned up so well, and didn't make a mess of the grass. The fence looks fabulous - time will tell if the wood wears well, but it is treated pine and looks good. The pool pump fence was a last minute addition to the job and they did a great job as they had to work around plumbing and electrical and slopes. During the installation they kept my husband informed and made to sure to ask questions if there were any doubts positioning, etc. Overall we are really happy with the work and with the people at Beiztell.  Everyone was professional and polite. They were prompt in responding to questions and delivered on the date they said that they would."

Gate Repair questions, answered by experts

While it is possible to install a manual gate yourself, it is generally not recommended. Professional installation is strongly advised, especially for automated or large driveway gates. Gates can be extremely heavy, sometimes weighing hundreds of pounds, which makes them bulky and dangerous to maneuver into place. Proper installation requires perfect positioning and balancing to ensure the gate swings smoothly and functions as intended. For automated gates, the wiring is also hazardous and typically requires a licensed electrician. Mistakes during a DIY installation can be costly, as materials alone can average around $1,000. Given the safety risks and the difficulty of achieving a proper setup, it is best to hire a professional gate installer.

Double gates come with the same gaps as single gates, with hinges taking up a quarter of an inch of space. The difference is that double fence gates also have a center gap, which needs a little more clearance. Space the center gap at half an inch instead of the usual three-eighths of an inch for a single gate.

Yes, most electric and automatic gates can be opened manually. They are equipped with a manual override or release mechanism that detaches the motor from the gate, allowing it to be moved by hand. This feature is essential during power outages or other emergencies.

To activate the manual override, you will typically need a specific key or tool. In some cases, you may also need a screwdriver to remove a cover to access the release mechanism. The use of a key is a common security measure to prevent unauthorized individuals from manually opening the gate.

Because every model is different, it is highly recommended to consult your gate's user manual to familiarize yourself with the specific procedure before you need to use it. Keep any necessary keys or tools in an accessible location. Be aware that automatic gates can be very heavy, so opening and closing them manually may be difficult.

In North America, electric gates are also subject to the UL 325 Standard for Safety, which includes provisions to allow emergency responders to access the property.

A sliding gate, or a sliding gate door, is a versatile gate system used for various applications. Sliding gate mechanisms allow the gate to move horizontally along a track or guide system when opened or closed. They come in multiple types, including sliding folding gates, telescopic gates, cantilever gates, and track sliding gates. These gates are known for their durability, ease of installation, and user-friendly operation, making them popular for property access and security.

The cost to install a gate varies widely, with a typical range between $1,500 and $7,000. The average cost is around $3,500. However, the final price can be as low as $200 for a simple gate or as high as $12,000 for a large, automated security gate.

Key factors that determine the installation cost include:

  • Gate Material: This is a primary cost factor. Chain-link and vinyl are the most affordable, while wood and PVC are mid-range options. Wrought iron, aluminum, and other metals are the most expensive materials.

  • Automation: Automated gates are significantly more expensive than manual ones because they require motors, sensors, controls, and electrical installation.

  • Size and Type: The dimensions and style of the gate (e.g., swinging vs. sliding) will impact the price.

  • Security Level: Gates with advanced security features will increase the overall cost.
