"ACE Moving and Storage moved an upright piano for me from Roanoke to Lexington. It is a very special piano as it was my grandparent's piano and has been left to me. Terrance, Malik, and Tremaine were outstanding. They were professional, kind, and got right to work. Josh was wonderful when scheduling the move and explaining the fees involved. It was a flat fee which was great as I knew what I was paying up front. The guys did such a nice job paying attention to detail and ensuring the piano was wrapped and well secured in their truck. Our driveway is also a challenge but they handled it without any issues. The piano arrived at my home looking the same as it did when it left it's original home. I am so impressed by these guys and their outstanding professionalism and attention to detail. I will recommend this company to anyone in the future looking for a moving company!"

"My mother needed to move from her home in Fredericksburg to be closer to me in Falls Church. She hired A Plus Moving to pack and move her, and also to move some of her furniture to my sister in Bowie MD, Mother has hired professional movers 11 times for both long and short distance moves. A Plus provided the best service of any of the movers she has used. They were very professional, courteous, efficient and considerate. Everything was well packed and came out undamaged. They were efficient. The building my mother moved to has a very short time frame for move in. Everything was moved in the required limited time frame, even though they had a very full truck with an enormous number of boxes and lots of furniture. They were careful with her furniture, wrapping the furniture on the way out and unwrapping at delivery. In addition, they were very polite and respectful to my elderly mother. I would absolutely hire them again and highly recommend them"

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

You can move a pool table without taking it apart only if you’re moving it a short distance, like from one room to another, and with the help of several people or a professional moving company. But if you’re moving the pool table from one home to another, experts strongly advise you not to move it without taking it apart. If you leave it in one piece, you could risk not only your own personal safety, but also risk damage to the pool table itself. The bumpers could need to be realigned and the slate may have to be re-leveled if you try to move a pool table without taking it apart. In this case, the risk usually doesn’t outweigh the reward.

Yes, moving a piano often causes it to become out of tune, even if you're not moving the piano very far. One reason is that any temperature and humidity changes can affect a piano's tuning. Additionally, the bumps and jolts from a moving truck usually push a piano out of tune.

However, don't jump right to tuning it once the piano gets to your new home. Instead, it's best to wait at least two weeks for the instrument to acclimate to its new environment. After a couple weeks, you'll get an idea of what the piano will really sound like in its new home, at which point you can call a piano technician to get it properly tuned.

Yes, there are sometimes hidden costs when hiring a moving company. These can include fees for packing, handling, and assembling specific large items, fees for packing materials used, and charges for trips over a certain mileage. To avoid hidden fees, always request a detailed quote before booking or paying a deposit.

Before hiring a moving company to help you with your move, there are a few things you will want to ask, including:

  • Is there anything your company won’t move?

  • Does workers’ compensation cover the crew?

  • Will you disassemble and reassemble the furniture?

  • Are there packing restrictions?

  • Can you guarantee my delivery date?

  • Can you provide references?

  • What do you charge extra for?

  • What is your cancellation policy?

To treat office moving costs as capital expenses, which means recording them as assets, they must meet certain rules: they need to be essential for the business to keep running, directly related to the move, reasonable, and documented properly with invoices and contracts. These costs can include packing, transportation, and setting up the new office. Once these expenses are capitalized, they're treated like assets on the books and gradually accounted for over time through depreciation or amortization.
