"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. There was a deadline for installing this part before tenants arrive. They did not care, would not m"

Jeffs Refrigeration and Appliance Repairs is a Christian family based buissness located on top of Bent Mountain in Virginia. We are commited to our coustomers, and our work. 34 Years of experiance, and we love what we do.

"Jeff is expedient, knowledgeable in his craft, courteous and respectful. I called for an appointment to estimate cost of repair of a Kitchenaid side by side which had gradually stopped getting cold so that I can determine if a new refrigerator had to be purchased. Jeff stated he had other jobs to do but was able to come by and take a look the same day. He quickly diagnosed the problem, made a call to get the parts needed, picked them up and installed them. The refrigerator started operating like new. His service and consideration saved me from the expensive task of purchasing a new appliance. I feel blessed in knowing him for future repairs."

"Called and immediately got to a dispatcher that scheduled me for first available appointment two days out. Tech arrived on time and quickly diagnosed failed capacitor. He went the extra mile to call the manufacturer to find the part was under warranty which saved me 50% on part. I asked if I should proactively replace capacitor on other unit and he said no, there is no way to predict when they will go out. That meant to me they are not into pushing unnecessary repairs, which is great. Good overall experience."

2008 years of experience

Appliancezone.com is a leading on-line retailer of appliance parts and accessories for do-it-yourself homeowners. Incorporated in 2008, it was started by CEO, Jim Allen and his wife Paula, who operated an appliance repair business for nearly fourteen years prior to starting the internet company Appliance Zone.

"This is the first online review I've ever written -- my experience with this company was that bad. Three aspects that deserve attention: 1) I placed an order and tried to cancel six minutes later. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

"The person performing the service had to make several trips because one of the "new" parts turned out to be faulty. I found both Complete Protection and their local repair contractor to be both very responsive and totally professional at every stage of the repair process."

"My outdoor AC unit went bad, called Cundiiff, they charged me $200 just come tell me what I already knew, then tried to force me to purchase an entire new system including a new furnace even though my current furnace is fairly new and works perfectly! I Notified them that I will not be using their services and they sent out a person anyway beating on all the doors of my house for 10 minutes until I answered, the guy was wearing street clothes in a normal car and attempted to just walk right into my house without even saying who he was or who he worked for, so I stopped him and asked, he told me he was with Cundiff, so I repeated that I would not be using their services bc they want me to change out everything that is not even broke, he then cussed at me saying “I don’t make the d*** laws” referencing a lie they told me in order to sell a furnace, which said they are not allowed to only change an AC by law, they have to change the entire system including the furnace and everything possible, which is complete nonsense, TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL and I DEFINITELY would NOT recommend! They also left my entire system turned off and all electricity to it off and fuse off on their first visit, luckily I was able to turn it all back on myself, horrible experience to say the least ??"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Because of the improved efficiency, ACs with higher SEER ratings tend to cool down your home better than models with a lower SEER. Higher-SEER AC units have a higher cooling capacity and a lower energy demand, meaning they may help cool your space faster without running up the electricity bill.

When a compressor gets overheated in central air systems or heat pumps, it can still cool your home for a while until it eventually gives out. If the compressor is chronically overheated and no one addresses the root cause, it will create an incredibly expensive problem when your entire HVAC system breaks down and stops working altogether.

An air conditioner’s watt usage depends on multiple factors, including the type of AC unit, its size, and how often you use it. With that said, most central air conditioners consume between 3,000 and 3,500 watts. Meanwhile, window AC units use 900 to 1,400 watts, and portable air conditioners consume 2,900 to 4,100 watts.

While personal preferences widely vary, sleep experts say the best temperature for sleeping is between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit rather than 78. If you do choose to sleep with your AC unit tuned to 78 degrees, you might want to use only a sheet or light blanket rather than a comforter. You might also consider installing a window unit in your bedroom so that you can be cooler in bed without wasting energy cooling the whole house.

No, it's not advisable to only replace the outside AC unit connected to your system. AC units are designed to work as a cohesive system, and older units work differently than newer units. Therefore, replacing only one component can lead to incompatibilities that affect the system’s performance. Replacing one component can void your warranty, costing you money for repairs.
