"Robbie and his team did a great job replacing our roof, and new replacement windows installed. They were always on time each day, courteous and informative. At the end of each day everything was cleaned up and hauled away. We recommend this company and will definitely contact them for any future needs."

"I don’t often do reviews. I found trying to research replacement windows online to be quite the chore and I hope to help guide others if they are in a similar situation. I did a lot of research into window brands. I now know more about windows then I ever wanted to. Once you were able to compare apples to apples by brand name and model numbers a few things came to light for me. All window manufacturers think they are the best. Lifetime warranties are not lifetime in many cases (You must read the fine print). Installation matters a lot. Service after the sale also matters a lot. I decided to get 3 quotes including Window World as they seem to be the benchmark for pricing everywhere. Not only was Hometown Windows prices competitive, the window they offered was better than most, had a real lifetime warranty including glass breakage and had experienced installers. I eliminated one installer because the windows he offered didn’t have true lifetime warranties (he said he would honor it for life but I like knowing the manufacturer will stand behind their products). I eliminated WW because of the great detail and service Hometown Windows gave me in the bidding process and I liked the product offered at Hometown Windows more. I liked that the owner Jimmy would answer the phone when I called. He also answered my emails quickly. I had a lot of questions and I appreciated him getting me every answer I wanted. Some people may not like that he is a smaller company compared to WW. I do. I like that the owner is involved in the process. There were a few very minor things that needed to be addressed after the install and he came out himself quickly to take care of the problem. That is a service level I really appreciate. The installation crew was also fantastic. They were fast and clean. They had a great eye for detail. The windows have been in for about two months now and everything is great so far. I am very happy and would recommend Hometown Windows to anyone. I will do my best update my review if something ever changes."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Storm door panels are typically made from tempered or laminated glass, and each type has its benefits. Tempered glass goes through a special heating and cooling process, increasing its strength and durability. It’s known for its safety features—when it breaks, it shatters into small, relatively harmless pieces rather than sharp shards. Laminated glass is made by sandwiching a layer of plastic between two layers of glass. This interlayer holds the glass pieces together even when shattered, preventing them from scattering.

Installation typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on the mirror size and mounting requirements.

The size of your mirror depends on the size of your vanity and personal preference. Most people prefer a mirror that is 1 to 2 inches narrower than the width of their vanity, while others like a mirror that’s the same width as their vanity. Remember that the mirror should sit 5 to 10 inches above your faucet when choosing dimensions.

Yes, it is possible to repair a damaged or cracked mirror, but whether you should do it yourself depends on the extent of the damage. For minor issues like small chips, cracks, and scratches, you can use a DIY approach. Resin-based repair kits can fix minor cracks, while scratches can often be removed with metal polish, nail polish, baking soda, or a glass polisher. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the best results.

However, for more significant damage, DIY repair is not recommended. Repairing and resilvering mirrors is a delicate process that can involve caustic chemicals and requires a high level of precision. The materials for a DIY attempt can cost over $100, which may not be a significant saving compared to hiring a professional. Since a failed attempt could result in more damage and higher repair costs, it is often better to hire a mirror repair expert from the start, especially for large, valuable, or extensively damaged mirrors.

All of the things you use to help you get clean can leave your shower door looking dirty. Water can leave mineral deposits as well as unsightly spots when drops of water dry on the glass. Soap and shampoo can cause build-up and residue that leaves a layer of soap scum in your shower, which then attracts dirt. Mold and mildew can also contribute to dirty shower doors; these fast-growing organisms thrive in areas with poor air circulation, damp conditions, and residue from things like soap and shampoo.
