"Professional technician repaired two of the 3 systems and got them operational. On the 3rd system he identified possible cause of failure and provided follow up options for repairs."

"We just purchased our home that had a new hvac system installed. But once we moved in we struggled with keeping warm & were using space heaters in addition to the heating system. We had several estimates. ARS sent Matthew to check out our system & why it was not working properly, who was amazing & very professional. He gave us a clear & understandable explanation why it was not working properly & our options for the system. We opted to have a Comfort Care coordinator, Brandon, come out to give us different options for repair & replacement. We opted to replace the whole system because there were some major issues that really needed to be addressed & fixed. When the installers arrived, there was some misunderstandings & miscommunications & both Matthew & Brandon went above to help clear those up immediately!! So far we are so please, not only with our HVAC choice, the company, & the care we were given by both Matthew & Brandon!! We definitely recommend them for your HVAC needs!!"

Central Vacuum Systems questions, answered by experts

If your central vacuum has lost suction, you probably have a clog in the system. You can remove a clog yourself using a portable vacuum cleaner or central vacuum maintenance sheets. Stubborn clogs or damage to the system require a specialized technician to repair.

Common repairs for central vacuum cleaners include motor repair, electrical repair, and blocked filters. Central vacuum motor issues typically come with a burning smell and loss of suction. With these issues, you might need simple lubrication to keep it running smoothly, or for more extreme problems, you could need a motor replacement.

Electrical problems or losing suction strength, might be reasons to swap out electrical components for new ones. However, a local central vacuum repair professional can tell you the best plan of action for your system.

The disadvantages associated with central vacuums start with cost. They are expensive to install, especially in existing homes, as retrofitting requires opening walls. The system's bulky hoses can also be inconvenient to maneuver and store compared to portable vacuums. Additionally, repairs may need professional service, adding to maintenance costs. Lastly, while powerful, they may be overkill for smaller homes or apartments, making the investment less practical for some households.

Yes, installing a central vacuum system typically adds value to your home. The ease of use, longevity, and superior suction power of a central vacuum system can add up to $2,000 to your home’s value if you decide to sell. Potential buyers may consider the central vacuum a perk to purchasing your home.

The best way to clean central vacuum pipes is to use a maintenance sheet to dislodge clogs and wipe the inside of the pipes clean. Alternatively, a professional can clean your central vacuum pipes for you.
