"Very pleasant and professional. Did a great job of removing a large leaning oak tree . Cleaned the debris out of the yard. Used safety measures during the cutting and removing of the tree. They donate the trees to those who need firewood and would not be able to afford to purchase it. They state ?We give back to the community .?Their rates are reasonable. Thank you Steven and crew for a job well done. We would use them again."

"I needed several trees removed that were dangerously close to my buildings. I got several quotes from other contractors on Angie's. So many in fact, I admit it was confusing but Jacob made a follow up call and I am very happy he did. They were right on time with a competitive price. They removed everything we agreed on and had it cleaned up in no time. I'd recommend this company to anyone in the area. Good job y'all"

"Joe was very prompt in his response. Very courteous and professional and absolutely affordable. While my son decided to not pursue the work to be done, I will definitely reach out to Joe for future needs."

"If you are looking to have stumps removed, look no further than Carolina Tree Service. I needed 11 stumps removed! Super Stump Man, Larry Wallace came out and he initially said, he would remove some of them that day and come back at a later date to remove the others. However, he removed all eleven stumps in record time! In my book, he is the superhero of stump removal, period."

Small jobs welcome

"Angie's List turned up Robin's Cleaning Service as a possible contractor for carpet cleaning. We went with her since she's independent and relatively local (Gretna). She came today, worked hard for over two hours to clean our Master BR and closet, lower staircase and roughly 1/4 of the lower living area, and did a lovely, attentive and thorough job for $225. Very pleasant--does carpets and other cleaning, painting, landscaping, mowing and pressure washing between morning and evening school bus driving for Gretna public schools (all three levels). Just a really sweet lady whom we enjoyed getting to know. If you have odd jobs, give her a chance. Robin Hall, 434-728-0529, is highly recommended! Arborists questions, answered by experts

The best way is to start controlling tree height long before it grows too large, via careful pruning through the years. But that’s not always possible. If a tree has become too high or too large, use selective pruning to remove the most troublesome branches, one by one, without topping the tree. Gently shaping a tree like this can, over time, correct problems. You can also find growth inhibitors to spray on a tree to stop it from growing too rapidly, but use these sparingly if at all.

If the roots are still alive, the dead tree will usually try to put out new shoots. That doesn’t mean the tree will survive or that the dead parts of a tree will come back to life. If parts of the tree have died and turned gray or rotten, nothing will bring them back to life and they need to be safely removed.

Yes, healthy and well-placed large trees can boost property value by an average of 3% to 15%. They improve curb appeal, offer energy savings through shade and wind protection, and are often considered by appraisers during home valuation. On the flip side, removing dead or hazardous trees can also increase value by eliminating safety risks. For the biggest return, choose low-maintenance, native species that thrive in your climate.

Rock salt or Epsom salt can damage and kill tree roots over several weeks and can even assist in removing the tree's stump. However, you need to drill holes or cut into the stump and surface tree roots to inject them properly with the salt. Repeat the process every two weeks until the roots visibly rot away.

Tree removal can be quite expensive, especially for larger projects, but you can use the following tips to help keep costs down:

  • Do the yard cleanup afterward yourself

  • Choose to leave the logs on your property and split them yourself

  • Opt to leave the stump in the ground and tackle stump grinding yourself

  • Pull permits for tree removal, if necessary, to avoid fines

  • Pay to have multiple trees removed at once

  • Remove tree in the late winter or early spring during off-season
