Recent Lawn Mower Repair Reviews in Ashland

Portable generator would not start. The company quickly picked up the generator; however, it took two weeks for them to begin the repair. When the work was completed--cleaning the carburetor, the person who called thoroughly explained all the work that was needed. More importantly, he explained how to avoid the problem in the future. The generator was returned in good order and ready for the next power outage read less

Repairman took things apart and discovered a portion of one part had been chewed through. He ordered replacement part and dishwasher has been working fine since that was installed. He did market a general service plan/warranty offer while on site but was not over-the-top with the sales effort. Work was completed promptly and any mess removed read less

  • Burchett's Small Engine Service LLC
It was quite embarassing when they brought the riding lawn mower back, it was shinier than my car. They didn't just return it, they detailed it. They picked it up, looked at it, let me know what was wrong, and also called when they found another issue to let me know it would need to be fixed as well read less

We had not used the machine in several years and could not get it to run with new gasoline and oil, Burchett's was selected based on their excellent Angie's List ratings and recommendations. As one that was involved in customer service for my entire working career, I was very impressed with everyone I had contact with at their company. They were excellent to work with and rebuilt the carb on the leaf vacuum-mulcher. An even better was the price they charged. I recommend them highly and will be taking all my small engine repairs to them in the future. In fact, I will be taking a lawn mower to them in the next few days for repair read less

My 12 yr old push mower would stop running midway through my mowing, and recently began having trouble starting. I also had a 17 yr old small tiller (aerator and dethatcher) that wouldn't start any more. Bon Air Repair (also known as BAVA Repair) is a relatively new company run by a young friendly and polite guy named Reid. He works out of his garage (and sometimes onsite) so you don't have to pay for overhead, which means his prices are cheaper than taking your equipment to a "formal" repair shop. I selected this company largely because I don't have a truck to haul my mower and tiller across town for maintenance and repair. Since they are located right off Midlothian Turnpike, near Johnston-Willis Hospital, I didn't have to drive far. In fact, Reid brought his tools to my home and was able to repair the mower (and change the oil) in my driveway. Took him less than an hour, and that included cleaning the mower. Cost: $40 The small lawn tiller (aerator and dethatcher) required a bit more time, and a few special parts, so Reid took it back to his garage and had it ready two days later. Cost: $50 I'm quite pleased with the work done by Bon Air Repair and wouldn't hesitate to use them again for any small engine repair work. Reid provides good customer service, explaining in detailed, layman terms the repair work, and provides helpful tips to avoid future problems with the equipment. He also guarantees his work and encourages customers to call him should there be any future problems. He will come out and take care of it promptly, free of charge. Reid charges a $10 diagnosis fee for those who may just want to know the extent of repair needed (and maybe an estimate). The company repairs virtually all lawn equipment, generators, pumps and chainsaws. They also sharpen chainsaws and other equipment blades, I believe read less

Called to inquire about service. Was told they could pick up the lawnmower the next week and the day would depend on the weather report. Called me the night before to let me know they would pick up the mower the next day. Mower was returned to me in 1 week. Process was easy and I will use them again read less
The whole transaction was very smooth. They arranged to have my mower picked up and within a day they had diagnosed and repaired the faulty starter motor. It was returned two days from when they picked it up. Total cost was about $200, which included the cost of the pick and delivery. I thought it was going to cost much more and take longer, so overall I'm very pleased read less

  • Burchett's Small Engine Service LLC
Folks did a great job on both and for very reasonable cost. Wasn’t in a hurry but they turned them around in less time than estimated. Both run and cut great. Definitely in my rolodex for future small engine repair.

  • Bob's Tractor & Mower Repair
He does an excellent job. When he fixes something it is fixed and I don’t need to call him back again to fix the same equipment. He is informative and he is very good at what he does. If does have to order parts, he orders them and then comes back.

Mr. Burchett took my Honda mower from a state where it was running roughly and in only short spurts to a smoothly running mower. He completed the job in three days, as he said he would and for the price he quoted. I will definitely use him again.
