"Excellent. Left message at office. Jimmy was able to come same day. He inspected food disposal and explained the leak. We ok'ed replacing the disposal. He left to buy new one at Fluvanna Ace Hardware, Returned promptly, and installed new one. Duration of service about 1 1/2 hours (including trip to Ace!) All Local-- NICE--especially during this pandemic!! Supporting local businesses-- YES!! Jimmy was polite, professional, worn a mask & removed shoes before entering home, efficient, thorough, quiet and left everything dry and clean. His price was right on! Honestly, we will hire him again. Definitely!!"
"I called Jamie in the morning, he returned the call shortly afterwards and was able to come that afternoon, even though this wasn't an emergency. The sprayer nozzle in the kitchen sink was dripping and seemed to cause the regular faucet water flow to pulsate. There also was water in the cabinet under the sink leaking from the sprayer nozzle hosing. Jamie examined everything carefully, cleaned the nozzle and the faucet. He explained the design of the nozzle leads to dripping and explained how to reduce that. He felt the problem was somewhat due to recent work on the main water lines, so he examined the main water valve, cleaning out a lot of debris that had been caught in the filter screen. He worked carefully and thoroughly and is very polite and pleasant. He honored a $25 coupon that was on the Angie's List site. His regular fee is $85 per hour, but the coupon brought the cost to us down to $60. We would definitely use Jamie again. "
"Tommy is a rock-solid performer who displays superb professionalism. This is the second time we have used his services. The first was to install an electrical outlet in our fireplace in preparation for the installation of a gas fireplace insert. This time it was for the replacement of five outdoor porch lights. On both occasions Tommy was prompt, quick, neat and very reasonably priced. The work was all completed satisfactoriIy and without problems of any kind. Consequently, I have no qualms about using his services again and I highly recommend him to others.. "

"He was reliable, polite, on time and a pleasure to have in my home. I had received the offer for 6 hours of work via email from angie's list. So I called him and he came to look at the job. After that we scheduled the date to perform the work in which he was on time and ready to go. He made sure throughout the entire day that I was happy with his work as he progressed. He often asked my opinion on certain things to make sure that I would be happy with the final product. the trim he installed was beautifully done and the holes he patched in the ceiling used to be such an eye sore. I will definitely be calling him for future work and will happily recommend him to others."

"Contractor, Total Air Care - Polar Plumbing came as agreed and replaced garbage disposal. American Home Shield stated that the service charge would be $75.00 the same as I paid when the previous garbage disposal was replaced under my American Home Shield contract. This time the contractor said there would be an additional charge of $67.00 because pipes had to be rerouted or the warranty would be void. The previous contractor had no such charge and did not reroute the pipes. I feel like Total Air Care - Polar Plumbing is ripping me off."
Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts
These appliances do unscrew, but you need to disconnect everything properly when you replace your garbage disposal. Make sure you shut the power off to the area first and check that it’s off with a voltage detector. Disconnect the main drain line and P-trap, and then disconnect the dishwasher drain line if you have one connected. You can then unscrew your garbage disposal using a disposal wrench. Just make sure you disconnect the electrical lines before removing your appliance.
When a dishwasher discharges its wastewater, it uses a pump to quickly move a lot of water. If anything in the drain line or the garbage disposal impedes the high volume of water, it will back up into the sink through the drain or the garbage disposal. Following regular dishwasher maintenance tips like clearing clogs, keeping them cleared, and occasionally running the disposal will eliminate the problem.
Garbage disposals are durable appliances that usually last at least eight years as long as you clean and maintain them. It’s relatively rare for a garbage disposal to break on its own, as most malfunctions happen due to user errors, like overstuffing the grinding compartment or damaging the blades by trying to dispose of metal or bone. Eventually, cracks or leaks could develop in the unit, which requires a full replacement.
You may be able to install a garbage disposal on your own, especially if you're handy or have some experience with plumbing. However, if you have any concerns or want to make absolutely sure that the connections are installed correctly, you may be better off hiring a local garbage disposal installer to do the job.
Soil is just one of the items you shouldn't put down a garbage disposal. Garbage disposals are only meant for soft, non-fibrous foods. Large amounts of topsoil, dirt, or rocks will damage the blades of your garbage disposal or clog the pipes. If a small amount of dirt goes down the drain as you repot a plant, you shouldn't have to worry, but never dump a whole pot of soil in the sink for fast disposal.
