"Excellent service and reasonably priced. The Groundsman did an excellent job trimming our plants, trees and cleaning up all of the trimmings! Our yard looks great! The Groundsman also kept in contact with us regarding weather updates and possible schedule changes."

"Very fun to work with this family run business! They worked hard to get my drive way, sidewalk, porch, and garage door power washed. It turned out so much better than I imagined! They have a flyer/discount for cleaning garbage cans so we did that too... ours desperately needed it! We will definitely be using their services again and we have already recommended them to friends and family."

"I think they treated the wrong lawn. The note they sent me via text message referenced trees and shrubs in my yard, I have none. They also did not leave a yard marker showing they had been there. Otherwise, this would have been a 5 star review."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

Reducing household waste is the best way to save money on junk removal costs in the long run. Reusable kitchen, pantry, and cleaning supplies will make a large dent, as will creating an easy compost and recycling system in your home. Additionally, create an ongoing practice of recycling, donating, or repurposing items that are ready to go.

Hiring a leaf removal company is a reliable way to get rid of a lot of leaves in your yard. Some companies offer a full range of yard cleaning services, while others may only haul away the leaves you gather and bag yourself. If you prefer the DIY route, you can try mulching leaves with your mower, using a leaf blower to collect them, using a leaf tarp to bag them, and more.

It’s possible to go too far trimming your bushes or hedges. If you overdo it, you may kill the plant. Stick to trimming about a third of the branches on your bush each season to prevent over-cutting. If your hedge is overgrown and needs a heavy trim, avoid cutting off the main branches that make up the top of the bush.

Dawn dish soap is typically too abrasive to use on plants, even when diluted with water. The soap contains detergents that can strip away a plant's natural waxes and oils, which are there to protect the leaves.

Should you decide to make your own soap spray insecticide, it's important to choose a gentle soap that doesn't contain detergents or surfactants. Castile soap, such as Dr. Bronner’s, is a good pick.

According to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, there are over 10,000 kinds of mushrooms, and some are harmful to both humans and animals. However, not all mushrooms are harmful—some feed on thatch and wood, which provides nutrients for grass and plants.

But unless you’re a mushroom expert (mycologist), it can be hard to tell poisonous mushrooms from non-poisonous. So if you have kids or pets (or both), removing them is the safest route to take.
