"Vargas Painting gave us a reasonable bid. They showed up right when they said they would, despite blizzard. They did the work in one day, as promised. And, most importantly, did a beautiful job. I am so happy with Vargas Painting. I would definitely use them again."

"I hired Pro Twins Painting thru Angi's. Fabel contacted me for a bid and was very prompt with his appointment and submitting a bid. I hired him and he started the painting project the same week. We were very pleased with the job they did. There would be no hesitation with hiring them again."

"Elliot was excellent to work with and does excellent work. He gave us a fair bid and did what he said he would do. He went above and beyond in our garage on patching and repair. He prides himself in doing the job right! He is pleasant to be around and pays attention to detail and knows the right products to use to get the best results. We would recommend Elliot to friends and family for interior and exterior painting services."

"Overall, the final result was an excellent paint job that we are very happy with. Along the way, we had some difficulties. Painter 1 is a franchise that subcontracts with independent painters to do the work. Unfortunately, the painters contracted to do our job were less than adequate. Fortunately, Painter 1 stood by their guarantee and made sure the work was done right. They even went above and beyond. So while initially, we were not happy with the work, they were very professional, listened to our complaints and concerns, and took care of correcting the issue in a very timely manner."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Adding a second coat of stain to wood can even out the color to some extent, but it won't drastically alter the hue if the initial application is too light or too dark. It's more effective at enhancing the richness of the color rather than significantly changing it. Ensure the first coat is dry before applying the second.

On most untreated wood fences, there is no need to sand before treating. You typically only need to sand if there’s an old coat of paint or stain on your fence. If you do need to sand off a previous paint or protective coating (like an old stain or sealant), use medium-grit sandpaper.

A properly applied coat of stain will last between 3 and 8 years, depending on your climate. If you live in a place where your fence experiences a lot of moisture or high heat, your stain will last for a shorter period than in more temperate conditions. We recommend reapplying stain every 3 to 5 years to keep your wood in good condition.

For the best results, you should apply two coats of paint to your wrought iron fence. Let your first coat dry for about an hour then promptly apply your second coat.

There’s no single paint that’s the most waterproof. Instead, there are several types of waterproof and water-resistant paints that suit different purposes. Epoxy paint, for instance, is commonly used to provide a waterproof coating to floors and decks. Masonry paint is an excellent choice for exterior walls. Meanwhile, there are waterproof acrylic paints that can be used for interior and exterior walls. It’s more about choosing the best type for what you’re painting instead of the most waterproof paint overall.
