"Tore out part of 17 year old trex deck due to other construction work, sagging rail and uneven floor. Used material from demolished deck sections to rebuild railing for remaining deck. Leveled and reinforced remaining deck with new supports. Of 3 contractors consulted, they were only one willing to repair the old deck at less than 1/2 cost of next best bid. The result is a trex deck and railing that still looks a bit old but is now level and stable which we expect to last another 10 years or more. We are very happy with the result."

"Cesar did an awesome job! He removed three large concrete footings left from some old fence posts, and then installed three new 4x4 fence posts with new concrete footings. He gave me a bid, started that same day, and then finished on the second day. I couldn't have been more pleased. He works hard, is honest and reliable. Thank you Cesar!"

"I wanted an update to my old vinyl fence to a more modern metal fence and Papaqui Construction Services was the contractor I went with they gave me the best quote and they even finished the project before the expected date. The finished work was above and beyond what I had expected. From the first phone call I could tell the level of professionalism this business has you donâ t see anywhere else. Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

There are several methods for attaching stair stringers to a deck. The best way is to bolt the stringers to the deck joists using three carriage bolts in a triangular pattern. This method offers the sturdiest fit for stairs that won’t budge. Alternatively, attach the stringers to the deck rims using lag bolts or to the posts using adjustable slope hangers.

Before installing any materials under the deck for removing moisture, you should perform some prep work on the ground. Work the dirt under the deck to create a grade away from the home. A grade of at least six inches for every 10 feet works well. Do not leave a gap between the dirt and the home’s foundation where water could pool. Once you or a contractor regrades the dirt under the deck, you then can add materials over the top.

A wood deck requires annual cleaning and regular inspections for loose or broken boards, nails, and screws. It should be refinished by applying a stain or sealer every two to three years to protect the wood from water damage, rot, mildew, and sun fading. The exact frequency can depend on the climate and the deck's exposure to sun and moisture. If your deck is painted, it will need repainting approximately every 10 years. Signs that your deck needs refinishing include faded, splintering, or warping boards.

In general, you need a footing at each corner of your deck, and within 8 feet of each other. So, how many you need depends on the size and shape of your deck, plus any local building codes. It also depends on factors like the load capacity of your soil and the weight of your deck. You can find a footing calculator online or contact a pro for support.

Both aluminum and composite decking materials are environmentally friendly, with aluminum decking coming in as the most eco-friendly option.

Though composite decking helps remove plastics from landfills, recycles wood, and lasts longer than traditional wood decks, it’s not recyclable and only lasts for 25 to 30 years on average. Aluminum can last well over 30 years and is almost always recyclable.
