"Wonderful! Carlyn is very helpful and easy to work with. He was very prompt, had excellent communication, and did a clean job. I hired him twice, once for scraping of my .25 acre lot, and once to scrape and replace gravel in my small backyard."

"Billings Construction was a superb choice for a brick shed demo project. The project including demolition of an old brick shed and the multiple layer concrete pad. The work was completed safely and on time as promised. All material (brick and old concrete) was removed from the property and done so in the most economically feasible way. The area was then leveled and prepped with road base. Willie provides quality service with attention to detail, safety, and expertise. I strongly and highly recommend Billings Construction!"

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

To prepare for a land survey, you must thoroughly check your land surveyor’s qualifications, reviews, and fees to align with your expectations. When it is time for the survey to be conducted, ensure that you have all your documents organized and available, know and mark your property lines, and inform your neighbors that the survey is happening.

Land surveys are worth it in several scenarios including selling your home, building an addition, constructing a fence, or making major changes to your landscape. A professional land survey can help you avoid legal issues with your neighbors and confirm the value of your property. In many cases, you may be required to order a land survey to receive a construction permit or mortgage loan.

Surveys completed by licensed surveyors can be recorded with a local surveying records office, and in most cases, they will be. Filing survey reports categorize them as legal documents, and they can be used whenever legal documentation of your property’s boundaries is needed. While you’re not required to file survey documents, it’s a good idea to do so.

A land survey can take anywhere from a few hours to a month or more, depending on the size of the property, the type of survey, the property’s accessibility and topography, and the availability of historical property records. A simple boundary survey to determine a fence line can be completed in a day while surveying 50 acres of undeveloped woodlands may take weeks or longer.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.
