I received a call from Les at Stout Roofing. He was very easy to talk to. He explained what they could do and what it would cost. We were able to schedule to work the following week. The crew showed up promptly and did a tremendous job. They were careful to clean up regularly throughout the process and before they left could not even tell they were there except for the new roof. Unfortunately they were short a couple pieces of gable and crown pieces as they replaced some sheets from the old roof that we were attaching to. The job was completed within the week with Brodie returning a couple of days later. We were thrilled with the prompt service and quality of the workmanship. All the guys were wonderful. I would definitely recommend this company and would not hesitate to use them again in the future if the need arose.

I have used Stout Roofing 3 times. First time was a bad job, different owners. The new owner was great and redid that portion of the roof at no cost to me years later. This was the PVC roofing crew and they were awesome. Because they owner did me that huge favor, I called them again to do the shingle portion of my roof. They sent out a young guy and a guy who's been in jail for 13 years for attempted murder (twice). Nice to send a guy like that to a single disabled woman's house. He obviously had lost all manners in jail and was quite gruff. They charged 4800 for the job, just for labor, for a job that took 6 days, with 1 full time person and one half time. After the job I realized I was hugely overcharged. When I was quoted it they told me it would take 3-4 guys a week. That is not what happened. The felon left the young kid on the jobsite many times working alone, leaving early afternoon or showing up late, and so the job went slow and the young kid struggled to do the work by himself (not his fault, it's hard to work by yourself). I also had some roofing that they had never installed before, and needed to read the installation instructions, which i provided well in advance. They never looked at it until to came onsite and I needed to provide them with the instructions again, which they then didn't follow and argued with me that the instructions were just written by someone who's never roofed before. When I told them it would void my warranty, they said the owner would warrant the installation and the materials anyway. Great, but I'd rather have it done right. At some point I had an phone call with the manager of the crew, who is the brother of the owner, who became rude when I opposed his viewpoint, interrupting me, and then threatened to walk off the job while literally my roof sheathing was exposed, knowing full well I would not be able to get a roofer in the very small town I lived in time before my house would flood in the rain season. Of course since it's the owner's brother you have nowhere to turn. Apparently the owner is also very close friends with the felon, so complaining about him was also useless. In the end, I literally just let them do whatever they wanted because I had no choice. There were several items that were on the list to be done as part of the quote and when it became clear on the last day it wouldn't be done I carefully brought it up with the felon (you can tell this guy will light up only with tiny spark), and he argued with me he had not been told about those items. It appeared when the manager had come out to spec the job, none of it was discussed with the crew. Suddenly the last afternoon the felon had a shift in attitude, and they got all the issues done but one that I forgot to mention, and went an extra mile to help solve an issue when he really didn't have to. For this, an extra star because it would have been a 1 otherwise. The experience left me with a very mixed feeling, but on the whole, I would not recommend the shingle crew, would highly recommend the PVC crew. The young kid was kind and an awesome person and worked hard and deserve a raise. All in all, it appears you just don't know what you are going to get with this company.

Was not good...the workers who came out did not speak english so I could not even ask them what problems they may have found on the roof. When they left they left a pile of trash that I had to clean up.

George Avakian is an excellent project manager and goes above and beyond his normal job duties to please his customers and demonstrates excellent customer service by explaining in detail the repairs needed and the cost to complete the job. He was punctual and very knowledgeable. He clearly explained to his crew exactly what needed to be done. The job was performed on time and budget. I would highly recommend Stout Roofing Inc to anyone needing repairs!  A+

We have a soft tile roof which means anytime someone gets on to our roof, there are broken tiles.  We have also had a leak where our heat pump is located which they repaired.  Nothing but praise and appreciation for their services.

Always prompt and professional, the work was done as promised and for the price quoted. Stout is a very reputable company and Todd is probably their finest rep - he is always polite, prompt and professional. A friendly company which is known fro their quality work.

I had my home built in 2005 back then the name was Hi Tec roofing . The same people now operate as stout roofing in St. George UT. When my home was built Kelley recommended the heavy elk shingle as the best and said they would be lasting for 30 years. Now after a few years I have 2 leaks . After my builder called Stout roofing, The installer who was head man of the crew looked at the problems and would return to fix the problems. That was 4 months ago. After a number of calls , saying they would get back to me -- still waiting. Now I only called them because they built the roof and after seeing the problems , know what had to be done and at my expense of course. This is no way to treat a loyal customer.

"We consider [member name removed] to still be a valuable customer and apologize for any inconvenience caused. We have attempted to communicate with [member name removed] how alterations to our work by other trades created problems that manifested themselves eight years later and that we would be willing to resolve the problems for him. Like any responsible business we are more than happy to remedy all faulty workmanship issues but when failures in our systems are beyond our control due to alterations made to our installations after we have completed the project we reserve the right to exercise the "alterations to work" portion of our warranty which renders the warranty in those areas void. In this case we simply informed [member name removed] that we would be willing to come back and make the repairs but it would be later and that there could be a cost associated with it. In addition the workmanship period of warranty coverage was 1 year. The shingle manufacturer provided a 30 year product warranty covering premature failure of the composition of the shingles themselves. It has been a minimum of 9 years since the installation. We sincerely apologize for what [member name removed] perceives to be a lack of concern and diligence on our behalf and hope that he can someday recognize and understand that we do appreciate and value his business. Prior to our notification from Angie's List (10/27/13) of [member name removed] negative review his issues were remedied and even though we have every right and his approval to charge for the repairs no charges were made. We hope that [member name removed] is once again a satisfied customer and recommends us to others."

The project bid was provided after the 2nd call to the contractor. This contractor was the only one of 4 or 5 I contacted in the area that followed up. Another contractor, Ryan Hirschi of Hirsch of RH roofing said he would provide bid, but never did. The bid included amounts for both wood and synthetic shingles and for an additional root cellar roof. I opted for the wood shingles and not to do the root cellar. The original date for the work was postponed due to rain. The contractor called me one day after he said he would to confirm a rescheduled work start date, which was the next day. The work was completed in 3 days, as estimated. The contractor said he would protect the grounds around the house, which he did for one side but neglected to protect plants on the other side. He apologized and his workers remedied the problem; he also provided a $50 credit for us to replace the damaged plants. After the 2nd day of work he left work materials on sensitive lawn areas and was asked to return that evening and reposition the materials in a better area, which he did. He had one worker spend the last day focusing mostly on cleanup of the grounds. The roof looks good. The contractor said he liked working on historic homes, it gave him a change of pace and he appreciated the workmanship of the old homes.

I sent them an email on Sunday 7/28 asking for a quote and Les stopped by Monday (7/29) afternoon. He went up on the roof, saw the broken ones I had seen and made sure there weren't any more. He gave me a quote and we arranged for them to come out on Friday 8/2 to fix it. On Tuesday, they let me know they would be able to do the repairs on Wed. 7/31, (two days early!). They showed up around 2 pm and were done on the roof in 20 minutes, then they cleaned up the old tiles and were on their way to the next job. It was one of the best home repair experiences I have ever had. I will use them again and have already recommended them to my neighbor. Great job and company.

I called them for a bid on one location, had them perform the work. After inspection I had them bid on a second location. I discussed the job, the foreman gave me a time line, did the job the first time to my satisfaction.

I was told by several people to use Stout Roofing. I did not find out until months later that there had been a major change in ownership, and the recommendations I had received were based on work done prior to the shake up. I was buying a house with a leaky roof and I needed a professional estimate to help me decide if the cost of the roof replacement was enough to make me consider backing out of the sale. Although it took several phone calls from me and also from the realtor who was selling the property to me, Todd finally responded. He went out to the house and inspected the problem areas. Much to my relief, he told me that the house did not need a new roof, and that he could repair it for $775! He emailed to me the most detailed and impressive estimate I have ever received. There were photos of each problem area, and I really thought I had made the right choice of roofing companies. I bought the house, then I hired Stout Roofing to perform the proposed roof repairs. I was told the repair would occur 1 week after I hired Stout Roofing for the job. They did not show up, nor did I receive a call. I spoke to Brendan a week later, and the repairs were finally done. Sounds OK, right? Yes, until it rained 2 weeks later. Of the 3 major leaks, the rain proved that only one of them had been remedied by Stout's repair. When I called Todd, guess what his response was? He said the roof needed to be replaced! What? He would not agree to any type of refund, except to put the $775 towards the cost of the roof replacement. Since we had counted on Stout Roofing's expert opinion to decide to buy the house based on the fact that it did not need a new roof, there was no way they were getting the proposed roof replacement job. My husband went to the hardware store and bought several large buckets of roll on roof sealer. He coated the entire roof with it at the a $375 cost of materials. It's been 2 years and the roof hasn't leaked again. So, if you just want a frame-worthy estimate, Stout Roofing is the way to go. If you actually want your roof repaired, maybe you are better off just doing it yourself.

I have been using them for years as I am a general contractor. They are quick to respond. They get their bids in time. Once a word of the contract is done, I can just give them a call and they do it for me. They are good and responsive. I would use this company again in the future.
