"Billy was great. He was quick and efficient, but I noticed him taking his time to ensure the work was the highest quality it could. A few of my windows were very dirty and still had construction grime stuck to them. I was able to talk with Billy and have a great conversation. I felt that Billy cared about what he was doing for me and my family. I will refer Billy to all my friends, and use him anytime I can."

"I learned so much working with Aaron and team. He came recommended from my friends and I cannot be more satisifed with the process. His team installed insulation, a radiant barrier and new doors and windows. It has made an immediate difference. Aaron was extremely communicative, very helpful, and trustworthy throughout the entire process. His team got here quickly, worked hard, and was very respectful throughout the house. It is the first contractor team that cleaned up after themselves! It was definitely the details from the estimate to the execution - over delivered."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Most windows last between 15 and 30 years. The exact life span depends on a few things, including the frame material, the quality and type of glass, the weather in your area, whether or not the window is installed properly, and more. You can always speak with a window professional about whether or not it’s time to replace your windows or if repairs would be more affordable. You’ll need to consider the cost of replacing your windows, the cost of repair, and the longevity of each solution.

In addition to window well covers or bars, you can take a few more steps to boost basement window security. Try motion-activated lighting; it scares off potential intruders by lighting up when someone gets too close. Strengthening your window glass with impact-resistant security film can also deter forced entry. A dependable home security system with window sensors and cameras offers real-time monitoring and alerts for added protection. Lastly, fostering good relationships with neighbors can establish a supportive community watch network, enhancing your home's safety.

Windows provide light and a view of the outdoors without the inconveniences that the outside world can come with, like noise, rain, snow, and unpleasant scents. Vinyl windows also provide energy efficiency thanks to their insulating properties, keeping your home at its coziest temperature no matter what season it is. They’re also excellent noise dampeners, so your interior space can stay calm and quiet.

Most manufacturers have their name imprinted somewhere on the window, such as the spacer bar, hardware, or frame. Other manufacturers will include an identification number printed on the glass itself. If you’re unable to find either of these, then your window was manufactured locally (oftentimes called a “shop window”).

With a manufacturer name (or even better, the identification number) you can attempt to research the information to find out when the product was made. Keep in mind this won’t tell you when the window was installed on your home, but can get you close.

When it comes to your pocket, opting for energy-efficient windows can lead to an average of 12% in energy bill savings. That totals to yearly energy savings between $100 and $600. However, the exact amount you’ll save hinges on factors like your local climate and the number of windows in your home.
