"Down South did a great job, it is nice to have a team that communicates so well. Jared helped through the whole process and kept everything transparent and when your building a home the is refreshing. Justin on the excavator also communicated well and did a great job. "This a complex situation where the toilet was grouted to the floor of the bathroom and we didn't know what to do. We got on Angi's list and came and gave us an estimate and the plumber had to go to his shop to get a special tool to disconnect the toilet from the floor . All fixed the same day."

"From excavating to framing all the way to finish work. This is your guy if he says he'll do something he does and above. The quality and attention to detail he has is amazing all this in a timely manner. There's no job to big or too small for this company. Also side note takes amazing photos. And super rad metal sculptures and wildlife mounts. Definitely pleased with their services and would recommend anyone needing work done to them??"

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

To hire a land surveyor, you need to start by searching online for reputable professionals in your area. Here are a few steps to take when making a shortlist:

  • Browse land surveyor service website

  • Check credentials

  • Read customer reviews

  • Find their contact information

  • Call or email to inquire about more information

  • Ask how far they travel, if you’re some distance away

  • Find out how they charge for their services

  • Ask about schedule and turnaround times

  • Repeat these steps for one to two other services and compare pricing

ALTA/ACSM surveys are the most comprehensive type of land survey and, as such, tend to be the most expensive. These surveys have standardized guidelines and reports and are used in many kinds of real estate transactions to ensure consistent and accurate information is available for properties.

If a buyer pays for a survey, the surveyor they hired will only provide results to them. It’s up to the buyer whether they share the survey results with the seller or not, even if they ultimately walk away from the deal. It’s considered good faith to share the results with the seller, though, especially if you back out of the deal, as the seller can then provide that survey to future interested parties.

Depending on the type of land survey, the report will mark the boundaries of your property, the topographical changes of the landscape, as well as major natural and added structures to the plot. A more detailed survey, like an as-built survey, will note the measurements of the structures and landscape following major construction. A topographic survey will also help your contractor determine the cost of land development projects.

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.
