"6/25/07 J & R is on tile project number 3 with us. We find with all three projects he's on budget, early on completion, priced in our favor, and has delivered high quality work. We find he's a man of his word, clean, courteous, trustworthy, on task, good to our tenants, and fast. We have already recommended him to fellow landlords and have received feedback that he has worked out wonderfully with them in the areas of ceramic tile, carpet, and vinyl flooring."

"It was done in about 6  hours with minimal noise and mess.    It looks great!   The basic package was $3995 and then we upgraded the fixtures to oil-rubbed bronze for and added a glass sliding door for.   We also added a tower to hold soap/shampoos.   You do pay extra for every little thing you add/change.   The basic $3995 (price is now a little higher)only covered the base, basic flat marble look walls & chrome moen fixtures.   Having said that, we looked at all the similar companies - whitewater, bathcrest, re-bath, contractor and this was the nicest product, with the least hassle.   They have a nice showroom in Sandy.   They will give you prices up front.   Their product has a lifetime guarantee.   I have spoken/met with everyone from the sales agent, office manager, installer & owner and they are all super with customer service.   It is a little more expensive than getting a contractor and doing a base with tile walls, but this is a seamless, groutless product, no hassle install & lifetime warranty.   The money makes that worth it to us!"

"Not blown away. I provided a good deal of information up-front:  floorplans from my builder, exact measurements of room, my design preferences - including several stores I like to shop at to give her an idea of my style. After I had provided all of this, Jill said she'd have my designs to me in about 4 weeks. I did not receive them for at least 8-10 weeks, and that was after several emails to her requesting status of the project. If I wouldn't have prodded I'm not sure how long (if ever) I would have received what was promised. When I did receive my designs, they were floorplans, which was as expected.  Along with a page or two of copy-and-pasted pictures of a few possible furniture selection. Which was much less than I expected. Based on the description I expected boards, with color selections, upholstery, etc. This was a big disappointment, especially after waiting 2-3 times longer than she had told me it would take."

"RSI is a great replumb company. The actual replumbing was outstanding and we opted for the upgraded pro-plex fittings to increase our warranty from 10 to 25 years (not an up sell by Jamey - our choice). They also put in-place a dedicated recirculation line for our tankless water heater. The RSI team (Kenny and Milo) was expert at locating and replacing the old polybutylene piping with minimal impact to sheetrock, tiles, and fittings. They finished the work early but were delayed in finalizing the project due to a delay from the Regional Building Inspectors, not RSI's fault. Our only suggestions are 1) better daily clean-up, 2) better attention to detail repainting sheetrock (we had to repeatedly point out areas for a 'redo' and adjacent areas for touch-up) - this seemed harder to do that we expected (this is why we gave them a B rather than an A for quality). Jamey was very responsive to us and answered our questions/concerns thoroughly and promptly. We will recommend RSI our neighbors and friends.

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

On average, tiling a bathroom involves about 12 hours of labor, usually spread over two to three days to accommodate prep work and curing times. A professional tiler can often complete the installation in 6 to 8 hours, whereas a DIYer might take 10 to 16 hours. The total project time is influenced by factors like the bathroom layout, tile type, and necessary prep work, such as removing old tile. The process includes specific timelines for different areas; for example, tiling a floor takes about six hours, while a shower area can take six to ten hours. It is essential to allow for adequate curing time—typically 24 hours each—for the mortar, grout, and caulk, which is why the project extends over several days.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.

The process takes two to four days, depending on the size of the area and your experience level. The first day involves assessing and prepping the existing tile, while the second day is for laying the new tile. This may take longer in complex areas. After letting the adhesive dry for 24 hours, grouting and sealing can be completed on day three. For larger projects or intricate tile patterns, expect the timeline to stretch a bit longer. Also, proper drying time between steps is essential for long-lasting results, which extends the project’s time.
