"We had used Barlow Service Experts for some time and had generally good experiences, but our recent water heater replacement was very disappointing. When our old unit flooded the basement, the sales rep, Nicholas Allphin, assured us we could do a payment plan for a new tankless heater. He was polite and professional, but would swipe past all of the verbiage on his tablet straight to the signature block, repeatedly reassuring us of what it said and that it was a payment plan. Months later, after repeatedly asking for payoff information, we learned it was actually a lease that would cost nearly double what we were quoted. We felt completely misled and taken advantage of, and it was incredibly frustrating to realize the truth only after months of trying to get answers. This felt dishonest and manipulative. If you still choose to use them, be very cautious and double-check everything they do and say, because there?s a good chance they could be doing the same thing to you."

"Everything went really well. Rob was punctual and got everything done quickly. The price was competitive. He and the contractors he brought in did an awesome job. In the master shower, they replaced and fixed some of the old pipes and fixtures, installed a new shower pan and all the tile and fixtures. He was even able to work in a curve ball we threw in and installed the niche in the shower. For the outdoor stair drain, he and his crew were able to remove the old, ineffective drain and setup a much better drain with higher capacity and that is better at absorbing the water and rain. Rob also did some research on the best options for drainage in the stair well and helped us avoid costly options that would not work long-term. We're very happy with the result. For the window well installation, he got the job done despite our indecision and patiently worked with us while we changed our minds. Now we have an installed window well attached to the wall in a very narrow space with the drainage gravel all setup and ready to go. All through the process, Rob was awesome at communicating with us, keeping us updated, and figuring out solutions with us, giving us invaluable info based on extensive experience to help us make the best possible choices."

Our initial consultation was lovely, with the rep being informative, kind, and not pushy at all. We chose to go through with his recommendations with an estimate of $22,000. It was a big chunk of money but we trusted that it would secure our house and be needed. While we were told that there could be increased cost based on the depth they had to go, we were not even close to expecting an increase of $14,000, which we were only told AFTER they had begun the process and we were not able to say no or decide on another option. This discrepancy between what was quoted us and what we were then told feels careless at best and dishonest at worst. With such a variable amount, it feels unprofessional to give such a low estimate and then expect us to come up with such a increase. "
