"These guys know what they’re doing and really fun to be around. I was able to get exactly what I was looking for. They came when they said they were going to and they installed it very well. Looks professional. You can see the pictures I posted with this review.I highly recommend them to anybody else out there. You’ll find out why for yourself."

"Dream Builders was great to work with for our awning. When the supplies came in, Trevan contacted me and he was out the next day to deliver them. He installed a few beams and came back the following day. The weather was taking a turn for the worse so he brought extra workers to get the job completed before the bad weather hit. We love the awning and would recommend them any day."

"Mclayne did a wonderful job. We had a fairly urgent need and he responded as quickly as he could. His repair was done quickly and well. He made sure the area was clean before he left. I would recommend Mclayne wholeheartedly."

"I highly recommend Scott Christensen from Red Koi Woodworks to restore your outdoor patio set! He was honest, great communication, fair price, and was one of the few upholsterers willing to do the job! He did great work and the chairs look like new! I attached before and after photos."

"Dealing with EPC Construction (Robert) has been a great experience. Beginning with the onsite estimate on a Saturday to accommodate our schedule, the sharing of professional / personal recommendations and photos. Resulting in an old wooden deck being removed and replaced with a larger composite deck and awning. Scheduling and work were completed in a timely manner. Robert takes PRIDE in his work. Highly recommend."

Awnings questions, answered by experts

You can indeed open your awning in winter. It’s a misconception that you can only open retractable awnings in the warmer months. In fact, modern awnings are strong enough to offer a little respite from the snow if you’re someone who enjoys sipping hot cocoa outside on a beautiful winter day. But if a big storm is coming, such as a hurricane or a blizzard, it’s best to close your awning until the weather calms down.

Metal awnings last much longer than fabric thanks to their durability and resistance to fading, sun damage, and damage from the outside elements. They also need less maintenance than fabric options. Both items add curb appeal to your home, but you shouldn't expect either type of awning to add property value to your home.

Yes, you can convert a fabric awning to a metal one. You just need to swap the fabric for metal panels, which are more durable and weather-resistant. However, the support frame will probably need reinforcement to handle the added weight. You should consult a pro to address any structural concerns.

Costs range from $1,000 to $5,000, depending on size, material, and design complexity.

The average cost to build a pergola ranges from $2,200 to $6,400, whereas the average cost of an awning ranges from $1,400 to $4,400, meaning that an awning tends to be less expensive to build or install than a pergola. Ultimately, the less expensive option depends on a few factors, including size, quality of materials used, and location.
