"They were very easy to work with. The master bath remodel was quick and they were respectful of going through our house. The demolition work was done quickly. The tile work looks nice. They had all the connections for the plumber and the electrician."

"I went into the showroom many times and got a lot of help from the designers there. They really took a lot of time with me looking at options and giving advice. They also seem to have adequate staff, and the store is busy, so it's nice to be able to get help. We ordered an expensive tile and when we got it laid out realized some of the order would not work in the pattern we had hoped. The manager helped us find a solution and was really great to work with. Plus their tile is gorgeous! I love walking through the showroom. I would definitely go there again next time we do a project."

"Raul with Pibi Tile was great. He did some outside tile work for me about 9 months ago. Good work, efficient, good price. I did not post a review then because people seem to be more motivated to write reviews when something goes wrong, and not when things are done as expected. But my recent interaction needs to be noted -- it has been 9 months since his work, and after a winter and summer, the tile grout came loose in two small spots, not more than a few inches long. And this is across about 60 tiles or so. Of course I could have ignored it or tried to fix it myself, but instead I called Raul. 9 months later and he remembered my job, came out in a day, fixed the obvious problem and touched up anything that even looked like it might fail. Of course, no charge. Considering all of his possible responses, including just ignoring my call knowing that there wasn't much I could do about it, the fact that he still wanted to make sure that I was a satisfied customer was, in my opinion, exceptional."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

For best results, you should remove the toilet in a bathroom before removing tile or installing new tile. If you don’t remove the toilet, it will be harder to fully waterproof the tile around the toilet, which could increase the risk of mold growth or plumbing leaks. If you have trouble removing the toilet, hire a plumber to help.

Porcelain and ceramic tiles are made from clay, but porcelain tiles are fired in a kiln at a higher temperature. This makes them more durable, but it also means porcelain is more expensive than ceramic at $3 to $5 more per square foot.

Even with the higher price point, many people choose porcelain over ceramic because there are more color and design options.

Tile countertops can be an excellent and budget-friendly option for a kitchen, provided they are installed correctly. It's important to choose tiles, such as ceramic, that are heat-, water-, and scratch-resistant. When the grout is properly sealed, it will resist stains, making the surface easy to clean. Tile is also considered a sustainable material. For a cohesive kitchen design and added protection, you can pair a tile countertop with a matching tile backsplash.

The easiest tile size to install is large tiles, and they’re easier to install than small tiles—the job is faster and simpler when there’s less placing, adhering, and grouting to do. However, when tiles get really big, they’re more difficult to handle, cut, and fit. Standard floor tile sizes are 12-by-12 inches, 18-by-18 inches, and 12-by-24 inches.

Natural stone floors, especially pebble-style tiling, are one of the least slippery options for a shower floor. Natural stone has a texture to reduce slickness, and pebble-shaped tiles add more visual and textural contrast while reducing slippage. Vinyl tiles are also designed with anti-slip texture for added safety. If you have a slippery tile, be sure to add a grippy shower mat to reduce the risk of falls.
