"Good service in certain ways but brought me sofa full of fire ants and broken big screen TV. Their sales pitch claimed they own their fleet but all I saw were Ryder rental trucks. Only my initial deposit was paid directly to mayzlin. I can't get anybody on the phone to talk about broken TV."

Dumpster Service questions, answered by experts

No, you can’t throw anything in a dumpster. For example, organic waste should not be thrown in a dumpster. While you can throw recyclable materials in a dumpster, it is encouraged to separate them and properly recycle them for the sake of the environment.

Costs range from $200 to $1,000 per rental, depending on dumpster size, duration, and waste type. Additional fees may apply for exceeding weight limits or hazardous waste disposal.

Most municipalities allow dumpsters with proper permitting to sit on the street for up to a month, but you might need to file for extensions throughout that time to maintain your permit. You should always check with your local building department and your HOA if you’re a part of one to make sure you avoid fines.

Yes, construction materials like tile, lumber, drywall, and hardware can be disposed of in a dumpster, just not in your regular garbage. As you’re planning your project, just make sure to rent the correct size of dumpster based on the scope of your needs and be aware of weight limits. Tile weighs a lot (along with other construction materials), and your costs could increase if you exceed the weight limit in your contract with the dumpster provider.

Depending on the rules and regulations set by your local municipality or sanitation company, you might be able to place a small amount of bricks in your regular garbage. However, you should call your local government or sanitation company first to double-check. If it’s not allowed, or you’d prefer to recycle them, you can haul them to a recycling facility or hire a trash removal company to pick them up and bring them in for recycling for you.
