"They seemed like they're pretty good. I didn't use them but I had a better deal come along but they seem to be pretty good. I think they would have been the next in line I'd use. Their price was competitive. I had an existing air conditioner that needed to be installed to a house. It was a thousand for installation and they're gonna re-design the filtering system and that was another $500.00. The guy who did the quote has been in the business for a long time so he seemed pretty knowledgeable. I looked at your ratings and they had a pretty good rating so I gave them a call."

"Crusader Water was great. They had quick availability for appointments, were quick to get the work done, and took the time to explain the basics of the work they did and answer all the questions we had. Additionally, when there was a complication in the installation process that arose because of the way our home was plumbed, Patrick diagnosed the problem quickly and was able to get it fixed fast."

"This was a super smooth and seamless process. My husband called and requested an appointment under my name and phone number. I was received prompt email and text message reminders, and the service tech was actually able to meet earlier than the original time (with advance discussion by phone). Once the service tech was on his way, I received a text from the office with a photo of who to expect. After reviewing the basement and kitchen, Poncho was able to provide a quote and asked if I was free for him to go out and purchase supplies and install the gas line that day. He was professional, kind, and efficient. I couldn't be more pleased with how convenient and easy this was and I'm looking forward to working with this business again."

"They had to Jack hammer part of bathroom floor at the tub to access drain. The entire drain system was encased in 8 inches of concrete. They removed concrete and installed all new drainage system. Did the job fast and clean. Wore booties on their shoes. Very professional."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

These appliances do unscrew, but you need to disconnect everything properly when you replace your garbage disposal. Make sure you shut the power off to the area first and check that it’s off with a voltage detector. Disconnect the main drain line and P-trap, and then disconnect the dishwasher drain line if you have one connected. You can then unscrew your garbage disposal using a disposal wrench. Just make sure you disconnect the electrical lines before removing your appliance.

In some cases, it’s more cost-effective in the long run to replace a garbage disposal, but it depends on the specific issue you’re having and the age of your disposal. You should ask a garbage disposal repair tech for a quote to repair your appliance and then see if it would be more worthwhile to replace it. Additionally, garbage disposals last for around 15 years, so if you know your appliance is reaching that age, it’s likely better to pay for a new garbage disposal rather than sink money into repairs.

These appliances certainly increase the number of things allowed down the drain, but they’re not foolproof. There are several items you shouldn’t put in your garbage disposal, according to manufacturers and technicians. Don’t put coffee grounds down the drain. The same goes for eggshells, potato peels, hard foods, onion skins, and any dry, expandable food. Most importantly, never put grease or oils down the drain.

On average, a garbage disposal can last anywhere from 7 to 12 years, with many models functioning well for about 10 years. With heavy usage, a motor may last a minimum of five years, while grinding plates will wear down over time. It's generally a good idea to consider a replacement if your unit is approaching the 10-year mark. Other signs that it's time for a new disposal include frequent leaks, persistent clogs, lingering odors, lack of power, or unusual noises. If your unit is not that old, it's worth investigating if a less expensive part, like a rubber seal or a loose hose, is causing the issue.

Replacing a garbage disposal costs anywhere from $150 to $950, but the average cost is somewhere around $550. There are two types of garbage disposal units, and continuous feed disposals tend to cost more than batch feed disposals. Going for an aluminum garbage disposal is also significantly cheaper than choosing a stainless steel garbage disposal. You'll also need to factor in the horsepower of the motor, labor, and the removal and disposal of your old unit.
