"Tony and his crew were awesome! My granite countertops and backsplash turned out beautifully! I was scheduled quickly and the work was done in two days. They didn’t leave a mess behind and went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with everything. Prices were reasonable and if I ever need countertops in other rooms in my house I will call him."

"David was great to work with. He was very attentive to our project and was a delight to work with. He communicated with us every step of the way, so we knew everything that was going on with our project. The end result is a beautiful granite countertop for our outdoor kitchen and some granite tops for side tables. I highly recommend David and his crew."

"Back to Perfection is a perfect name for this company. We didn't realize that Corian could be refinished. We were referred to Back to Perfection and treated to a professional experience process that was well done from start to finish. Our countered has Corian sinks as part of the countertop and they were pitted and wanted them repaired as well as refinishing the entire countertop. We were delighted with the result. The refinished countertops look like new and "Back to Perfection". Recommend Back to Reservation without reservation."

"I used Roberto on a kitchen remodel 8 years ago. I recently used him again to remodel my bathrooms. He is an engineer so there is additional value in his opinion, and he has an eye for detail. He and his crew do an amazing job. With my kitchen, I chose a granite with a lot of variation and color. I also have lots of countertops and angles. He fabricated it so that standing at one end of the kitchen, all the lines run in one direction. He made the granite in my bathroom without seams. He is a perfectionist, and it shows. I highly recommend."

"Gabriel came out promptly after our call and measured the existing countertops. We selected several different granites from Lackstone on I-45 North (Houston) and Gabriel provided pricing for the different selections. After finalizing the granite selection, one of his workmen came back out for a final verification of the dimensions. The installation crew came out just over a week from the date we placed the order. The removal and installation work took one long day for the crew. A carpenter came out a couple of days later to add some trim under the countertop edges and another workman sealed the countertops. We had a plumber connect the new sink and install the sink hardware and had an electrician re-connect the cooktop. We absolutely love the new granite and have gotten many compliments on it. There is only one seam and it is almost undetectable. It was a delight to work with Gabriel and Gladys and to finish with such a beautiful job!"

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Installing granite kitchen countertops costs about $3,250, ranging from $2,000 to $4,000, depending on the quantity and quality of the granite, use of granite tile or granite slabs, the type of granite, and its color and texture. Varieties of granite include:

  • Alaska white: $35 per square foot

  • Ubatuba: $30–$60 per square foot

  • Silver cloud: $35–$40 per square foot

  • Absolute black: $45–$60 per square foot

  • Black galaxy: $50–$70 per square foot

  • Blue Louise: $70–$100 per square foot

  • Crema Bordeaux: $80 per square foot

  • Solarius: $60 per square foot

Learning how to clean different types of countertops can help them look new for longer. Use a gentle cleaner on recycled glass countertops to avoid damaging the binding agent. Avoid harsh or abrasive chemical cleaners, which can damage the surface and shorten its lifespan. It’s also best to keep acidic cleaners away from countertops that use a concrete binding agent, as they can stain the surface, leaving it looking dirty and drab.

Concrete countertops should be sealed every one to three years, depending on the type of sealer used and the level of use your countertops get. For instance, hardworking kitchens will need yearly sealing. Sealing is important because it protects the surface from stains, moisture, and daily wear. Monitoring the countertop for signs of wear can help determine the ideal sealing schedule for your countertop.

The best budget-friendly countertop option depends on personal preference. Concrete is a great alternative to more expensive materials, as it can be cured and treated for unique designs. Another cheap material worth considering is plywood. It can be laminated or stained to suit nearly any aesthetic. Granite remnants are also a good choice.

The short answer is yes. A stone-safe, pH-neutral cleaner and a soft cloth are all you need to clean and maintain terrazzo. Harsh cleaners aren’t necessary. You can also apply stone polish every few months to refresh your terrazzo.

It’s recommended that you clean your terrazzo countertops daily to remove dust before it begins to build up. Dust and other debris can cause small scratches over time. If you spill something, be sure to clean it up immediately before stains set in.
