I can't say enough good things about Byron's Landscaping. We have used them a couple of times. The first time, we had them do some planting in a small bed in the front of our townhouse, as well as spreading mulch and doing some trimming and clean up including removing a large shrub. The...

I need sod and mulch for my yard. I called and they were all booked up However he referred me to another company which I thought was very nice.

They came in on Friday and removed the 3 old trees and trimmed the 4 Crepe Myrtles. They did a fantastic job and finished in <2 hours. Cleaned up all the mess and they mulched the trimmings, so there was no waste of the material. They came back later the next week to grind the stumps,...

Rain Mizer put in gutters for us a little under a year ago. I noticed that one part of the gutter would drip after a rain. I called and Theresa made arrangements for the guys to come out when they were in our neighborhood. Always nice as usual, they came and put up a big ladder to give a...

Ok.. It was just mulch.

Super fast and responsive service during a busy holiday week. They were very accomodating by dumping the load in two spots. One very small gripe, remind them to clean out the truck if they were hauling stone before they pick up your topsoil.

"1) Trees were not trimmed satisfactorily per oral agreement at 7030 Krause, Missouri City, Tx 77489. The agreement was that all tree limbs from neighbors trees would be removed at the property line front and back of house. Provider only removed leaves that were leaning on my house (he said he misunderstood-I just let it go but new I would never use him or referrals from Angi's List again.) (2) At 4818 Callery Creek, Houston, Tx 77053 provider was instructed to remove any limps from neighbor's house leaning across property line, especially those in front leaning on roof. He only removed a few limbs that were leaning on house. He did not remove all of the limbs crossing the property line in front yard. At this same residence he was to kill weeds between two adjourning fences in back yard. Neighbor complained that provider came on their property w/o permission, removed pickets from their side of the fence to get to weeds (he did put the pickets back somewhat), sprayed weed killer that killed plants that she brought from native country that had been handed down from her Mother and Grandmother, pickets were not put back satisfactorily. When I asked how they would get this part of the job done, I was told he got to the weeds between fences by climbing and straddling the two fences. Now I was not present when they completed this job but I did drive around to see if jobs were completed satisfactorily - as stated above, only 1 of 3 were done to original agreement."

"ARLC LLC - Chris, the owner of ARLC LLC (Always Ready Lawn Care) is wonderful to work with. He presented himself in a very professional fashion when he came to quote on Spring clean-up and weekly lawn care. When the crew who came out for the Spring clean-up and first mowing did not meet the standards Chris and I agreed to, he was out within a couple of days to tend to the yard himself. We could not be happier with the work that has been done."

FAQs for mulch and topsoil service projects in West Columbia, TX
Topsoil costs from $12 to $55 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. For example, screened black dirt will cost about $15 per cubic yard. Loam (soil composed of sand, silt, and clay) costs about $17 per cubic yard. Standard screened topsoil costs about $20 per cubic yard. The type of topsoil you need depends on your landscaping plans.
Mulch costs anywhere from $30 to $150 per cubic yard, depending on the type you choose. On the inexpensive end, red and black mulch are about $35 to $40 per cubic yard, and are typically made from recycled waste wood like shredded old pallets or deck material. Cedar, cypress, and rubber mulch cost anywhere from $100 to $120 per cubic yard. A pro can help you determine the type of mulch most suitable for your landscaping needs.
Topsoil should go down first. If the topsoil is next to your house, make sure the grade slopes away from the house to keep water from pooling against your foundation and possibly leaking into your basement or crawl space. Don’t cover your decorative landscape mulch with topsoil as that defeats the purpose of laying down the mulch. If you’re trying to create a certain soil composition to improve plant growth, you’ll likely want compost mixed into the topsoil instead of mulch. Over time, any decorative wood mulch will simply decompose under the topsoil.
No, mulch itself does not necessarily attract termites even though it’s usually made of shredded wood. Some types of mulch like cedar or cypress resist termites because they’re toxic or unappetizing to the wood munchers. However, when the mulch is deep enough, say three inches or more, it creates a perfect habitat for insects of all kinds to build nests.
Although it’s not required to lay anything under mulch, it can help to put landscape fabric or plastic weed barrier down and lay mulch on top. The barrier helps keep weeds from growing up through your mulch. It also helps keep rodents and insects from burrowing into the ground underneath.
