"Doug refinished an older dining table. The table was very discolored in multiple locations and also had a very prominent and rather deep scratch. He sanded, stained and varnished the table and it looks marvelous! There is no evidence of its previous condition. I am so happy with the outcome. Doug also raised the table a bit so it's more a more comfortable height. He really did a great job. He is a great talent! We are working on the next project already. I highly recommend Dado Woodworking!"

"Our dishwasher was installed incorrectly and some of the trim needed to be sanded down for it to fit properly. Bourbon Barrel Woodworks was able to do the job properly and smaller jobs in the kitchen as well at a fair price. He came when he said he would and everything was seamless. I would highly recommend."

Many modern homes have soffits, but older ones don’t, and you may be wondering why. Older homes have eaves that extend further beyond the home and help to circulate air, negating the need for a soffit. This style of building has faded away, therefore, modern homes need separate soffit installation. Modern soffits are more efficient than this older style and require less material to construct, saving homeowners money.
There are several mistakes you should avoid when using butcher block countertops. Don't place hot pots or pans directly on the surface, as this can crack the wood and cause permanent damage. Avoid leaving wet items sitting on the surface, and wipe up liquids as soon as possible to avoid stains.
General contractors use subcontractors to complete specific parts of a construction project. For example, a general contractor might have construction experience but need a subcontractor to install plumbing lines in a new home.
If you don’t have a power saw with a blade where you can adjust the angle, you could use a miter box and hand saw to make the cuts. The miter box contains wide slots to support the piece of baseboard and other narrow slots to accommodate the blade of the hand saw. However, it’s tough to make non-standard cuts beyond 30 or 45 degrees when using a miter box.
Yes, ceiling joists are typically load-bearing. However, their primary function is to support the weight of the ceiling and loads applied to it, like lighting fixtures and ceiling fans. They can also help support the roof, especially if they’re part of truss systems. Remember, the load-bearing capacity of ceiling joists depends on the material, size, and space between them.
