"Highly recommend Allstar Solar Screens.  They were very professional and prompt with their service.  They came out to my house to measure the next day after I called.   The screens were completed and installed a little over a week later.   Chris took care of everything without me needing to leave work, including the install.  The finished product looks amazing.    Great pricing."

"When I requested the service from Curtis for Saturday I understood the cost would be $142.50 per hour. However, Curtis described how they did not charge extra for having a helper accompany the electrician. I interpreted this to mean that two people would be dispatched to do the work, The cost seemed reasonable for two people on a Saturday. Only one person came and he was not an electrician. He was a journeyman. The estimated time for completing the work was 4 hours. The work was not completed in 10 hours (2 hours for lunch) after which I sent the journeyman home and resolved to complete the work myself. The quality of the electrical aspect of the work seems acceptable. The only error I have discovered so far is that the light switch was installed upside down. I have not yet installed the fan units, so I have to reserve judgement on those electrical connections. Had a helper been dispatched with the journeyman I think the work would have proceeded according to the 4 hour time estimate that Curtis originally made. After some discussion Curtis reluctantly reduced the number of hours to 6 from the 8 hours charged by the journeyman. Overall this performance seems about average for a service company. In the future I will search for above average performers.

"The job was done in a timely fasion. Rob is very true to his word and when he says something will be done, you can rest assured it will be done to your utmost satisfaction. He also is real easy to work with and very professional. He went out of his way to repalce one of the landscaping light with a new one and fixed another one which was not working. He has a lot of knowledge overall about general maintenance of the house, trees, roof etc. He also installed a roof gutter which was not working properly. Now this one was not even part of his original job. Overall, Rob is great to work with and will use him in the near future for landscaping needs. He also has a very effecient crew and they finish the job and clean up nicely."

"The pavestone work these guys did for us was outstanding!   The pattern on the S shaped walkway required hundreds of cuts and they all look great.  A very professional install that I continually receive compliments on how great it looks.

"UPDATED REVIEW -- NOV 2015 -- Updated Ratings

The original service was performed in Oct 2014 and our original review was a year later in Oct 2015.  Our original review indicated we didn't receive the complete service according to the Big Deal.  Within a day of posting this first review, Floor Coverings & More contacted us to setup a new appointment to visit and make things right.

FC&M visited us early Nov 2015 and we reviewed the thoughts and topics from the first visit.  It turns out that our tastes haven't really changed, so this was an efficient visit and basically a refresher.  A week-and-a-half later, FC&M provided the 3D images of our kitchen.  The images are quite nice and what we were looking to have from the Big Deal.  There are two basic color schemes in the drawings - a light and a dark - and I like that I have a clean and fresh view of my kitchen as a starting point to re-think it.

Overall, we're pleased with the company and service.  Had everything gone to plan the first time through, we would have rated an A.  Since we had a hiccup in the process with a redo, we rated an overall B.  The review process through Angie's List worked quite well in our case, and - as with so many providers here - it's great to see a real and human effort to insure value and customer satisfaction.

Thanks and regards,

ORIGINAL REVIEW --  OCT 2015 -- Original rating was an Overall D.  Here's the review:

"This is perhaps my fault as much as the provider's, but we never received a
3D model of our kitchen.  That was the only reason we purchased the
deal.  As it is, we only have an e-mail quote that cost us 50 bucks, and
that's not a good deal at all. Maybe there is something further follow
up we needed to do on our side, but we didn't understand if there was.

Anyway, I had forgotten about this.  Let's use this opportunity now to
fix things.  Please let me know what's required to close-out the deal.
Thanks,"

"had purchased this on a Deal. I moved my office to the in-law suite, and wanted something outside my norm - yet not too jarring. The decoraator is in Mass. We communicated via email, Pinterest., Houzz, their website and phone conference. I planned to reuse my light cherry office furniture, but needed to get rid of the white wall look. I sent photos of the room and a floor plan. I answered their online style questionaire and sent photo of the furnishing, my favorite Arts n Crafys desktop lamp and some of the art work I wanted to use. The result was a vibrant palate that is invigorating and joyful to work in. Using the colors from some paintings I collected in Africa15 years ago and my electric taste. the result was very bold. (Formerly my definition of bold was any color other than white or beige. The cair rail and lower walls are a terracotta with a rich deep gold on top. The remaining woodwork and doors are a dark slate gray with a satin finish. (Really - no white glossy woodwork.) I feel like I am in some exotic place when I work. I have met with other designers in the past. They ask your likes, then tell you what think regardless. Not so here, the process was interactive, two sided and balanced. The results are stunnung. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again, even if no big deal is available.

Lighting questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of a pool light depends on the type, but thankfully, these lights are designed to last a long time before they need to be replaced. LED bulbs last the longest, about 20,000 to 30,000 hours, while incandescent bulbs last the shortest amount of time, about 1,000 to 5,000 hours. Fiber optic pool lights will last around 6,000 hours.

Installing outdoor lighting can increase your home’s value by up to $2,500. The average ROI on landscape lighting is around 50%, but how much your home increases depends on the market, the type of lighting, and whether you have a strong strategy for your landscaping lighting project. LED and solar lighting may offer the highest ROIs.

Before investing in motion sensor lights, there are a couple of disadvantages worth noting. For starters, they’re not as reliable as other forms of lighting. Motion sensor lights can be accidentally triggered by pets or wind, which can become a nuisance after a while. The opposite situation can occur, too, where they don’t turn on when you need them to.

The majority of potential burglars are amateurs looking to make a quick buck after breaking and entering. By installing motion-sensor lights, alarm systems, and security cameras, throughout the home, there’s a good chance you will deter crime on your property.

Although security lighting may not deter a determined burglar, its presence will make your property that much less enticing to would-be trespassers. When paired with other types of home security systems like alarms and surveillance cameras, strong lights will better help you and the authorities identify thieves in the instance they attempt to break in or succeed at doing so.
