"On the day of the work (4) workers came on time and proceeded with the work. They were very professional and covered the floor and the stairs leading to the attic.  They too answered all my questions about  what they did. They showed  me the old evaporators coils and the leaks in them, and the new were still in the original box. They replaced on of my thermostats and  fixed a noise coming from my outside unit .  Although,  I had a second estimate on this work that would have been less, I went with Cucco,s because I trust their work and their professionalism. Honestly, it is so hard to fine honest people these days working with them is a pleasure.

"In the first question I already explain the problems and solution in short. We had to wait at least 2 days for the parts because I have warranty with the parts; meanwhile technicians came to the house everyday to put a little bit of  Freon so we could be more at ease with the heat. The technician that came to install the coil and everything else took his time being very precise. Now everything is working properly. By the way The Owner and one of the dispatchers also where very professional and nice trying to help us in anyway possible.

"The ad said that it was for unlimited vent.s I called to confirm and had it confirmed that it dryer vents would be included. He stated that because my pipe was higher that it would be an additional cost and that dryer vents were not included. He insisted that the ad was wrong. I had taken the day off and felt that he should have given me a better price since I had confirmed with his staff beforehand. I went ahead and paid the price since I needed it done, but felt that it was not as described. I will never, ever call him again."

"This was a major project that took about one month to complete - much faster than most contractors. Jose always made good suggestions and often saved us money by repairing/painting instead of replacing. The job was started early and finished in less time than we expected. Sandra handled the contracts and financial arrangements. Both Jose and Sandra were very responsive and professional. We highly recommend J.Y.Handyman!"

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Yes. Boilers need water to run without overheating, also known as dry firing. If you run it without a sufficient volume of water, either because of a burst pipe or a leak, you run the risk of damaging your machine or jeopardizing the safety of your home as a whole. When in doubt, shut off your boiler and repair any plumbing issues before turning it back on. Alternatively, consider installing a low-water cutoff (LWCO) before any issues arise. This gadget will protect your boiler by monitoring water levels and automatically shutting it off if it gets too low.

Heat pumps are significantly more efficient than boilers, typically providing three to four times the amount of heat for the electricity they consume. While boilers run on fossil fuels, heat pumps use only electricity. This efficiency can lead to long-term savings on operating and maintenance costs. However, heat pumps have a higher upfront installation price compared to boilers. Despite their lower efficiency, boilers remain a popular choice for many homeowners, with 8 million in the United States alone, due to their lower initial cost and less intensive installation process. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your home's infrastructure, your budget, and your personal heating priorities.

If you hear your radiator clanking even when it’s turned off, it’s typically because there’s trapped water or air in the system, causing a pressure buildup. When you hear significant clanking, popping, crackling, or banging in a radiator that’s turned off, you’ll want to bleed the pipes or call in an HVAC specialist to deal with the problem (and prevent it from happening in the future).

Chilled water HVAC systems use water instead of traditional components and refrigerants. They're more common in commercial settings than residential ones but are slowly being adopted by some homebuilders to cool homes. As the name implies, the system keeps the water chilled at 40 degrees and circulates it through water coils. The water absorbs the heat from your home and drains outdoors. Condo apartments are more likely to have chilled water HVAC than single-family homes because this system is designed to cool several rooms or large areas individually.

Radiators are a popular home heating choice in older homes, but they are becoming less common in new-construction homes. According to a 2022 report by Elements Visual Capitalist, only around 1.3% of new single-family homes have radiators and similar heating systems, such as baseboard heating.

While they may not be as popular as they once were, radiators today come with more energy-efficient features that can make them practical for modern homeowners.
