The rep was able to give me measurements and a quote on the spot, which was very convenient. I was able to explain exactly what work I needed, as well as explain the HOA requirements for the fence construction. Originally, the job was scheduled to start about 1 week out from the quote date and would be completed in 2-3 days total. However, a slot opened sooner and they were able to start the job two days after the quote date. Day 1 of the job went as expected with the demo crew of 4-5 arriving on time and working throughout the day. They were able to remove the old fence, driveway gates and motors, and install the steel posts. Upon inspection, everything looked great, with the post lines perfectly straight and vertical. The next day was a rainout, so there was an expected delay. On Day 3, we were told the crew would arrive in the morning and finish the job. A crew of 2 showed up in the late morning and did not get much completed for that day; they installed most of the kickboards and ran about 50% of the stringers. This day also included an extremely long lunch or some other distraction - the crew leader would leave for hours at a time. This may be the point where the job began to fall apart. Day 4, the crew of 2 showed up late morning again, worked for less than an hour, had lunch and then a 2 hour nap in the truck. Really? It was almost laughable. After the nap, they left and were never to be seen again. So after the interesting events of Day 4, the rep called and said he had to let the crew go and he would be completing the job himself, along with his fiancée. He sounded knowledgeable and claimed to have experience in building himself from a past fence company he owned. They worked for 4 more days on the fence and, for the most part, did a great job. They used screws rather than nails, which was nice. However, they started with gray nails and then switched to tan in the middle... I had to stop that one... they gladly went back and replaced the gray screws with tan. So other than being extremely slow (part of the problem was a constant coming and going, which I can only attribute to trying to quote or work other jobs during my job), they built the fence well. There were a couple of issues that I'll cover separately. By the end of Day 7, my wife and I were frustrated and ready for this job to be completed. The rep assured me that the job would be completed on Day 8, which only required the gates and a small 5 foot section. The next day, a brand new crew arrived and finished out the job. I think he hired this crew on his own to finish the job, which wouldn?t have been bad, except for a couple of things. 1. They used nails instead of screws, so t everything matched. 2. It didn't seem that they had built gates with cap and trim, because I had to walk the main guy around the neighborhood and show him how the gate was supposed to look. 3. They finished the job with the scrap wood that was left, rather than getting additional wood if necessary. That resulted in sections of the decorative cap looking pieced together. The gates and small section had slats that you could easily see were cracked, warped or otherwise should have been tossed. I spoke with the rep about the finish out of the gates and use of scraps or short boards during the walk through, but I essentially got the song and dance that this job was costing him money, etc? He did give me $50 off from the original quote since the job ?too longer than expected? to complete. In my opinion, this should have been a routine job completed in 3 days. Many of my neighbors assumed that we were building the fence ourselves, since it took so long. So I used the $50 off to buy my own wood and correct some of the issues that remained after the walkthrough. I think I should have pushed harder and got the items corrected, but after 8 days, I felt that I would be better off doing it myself. I replaced about 10 pickets that were warped or cracked, replaced two 2?x6? caps, replaced two 1?x4? trim pieces and straightened about 15 pickets that were out of alignment. You are not supposed to be able to see through a board on board fence, but there were several places where the slats were off vertical and you could see a crack. I was happy that they used screws at this point, because I was able to loosen the screws and straighten up the slats pretty easily. The gate construction is also questionable. When they built the gates, they toe nailed the frame together, but missed several areas. I went back and nailed these spots and the gates were acceptable. Now after several months, the gates have sagged and are noticeably out of square with the fence. The front gate is so out of whack that it won?t close properly. There were two iron gates posts in the driveway that were removed and the holes were patched. That went well, except for the fact that when they did the new pour, but did not block off the area or mark it at all. My wife came home and drove through the new concrete. That was actually pretty funny. The crew had to come back and fix it up again, but no problems there. The rep also fixed a sprinkler line that was broken during demolition. That was good in theory, but the line had been pulled upward with the post removal. It needed to be pushed back down before it was patched, but was instead patch at about 1? below grade. That was another item I just went back and fixed myself. Cleanup was pretty much non-existent after the initial demolition day. I had to go back on my own and collect screws that were dropped in my yard and driveway ? to the tune of about 30 screws. All in all, I have a good fence that for about 90% of the job went well, but took too long. The fence looks good and I feel that it will be durable and last. The process was painful and slow, and frustrating toward the end of the job. At the job completion, I wish the finish out and walkthrough items would have been addressed, but instead were brushed off by the rep. I now have issues with my gates, but I plan to have the company come back and remedy these items. I will update this review further after I attempt to have the gates repaired under the 1 year warranty. They did a good job however they charged me $200 to put a lock on the gate. This came as a surprise to me and was just for hardware. The advertised deal was supposed to cover everything but I did pay extra for the hardware.

Driveway Gates questions, answered by experts
You can install manual gates yourself. However, professional installation is recommended for automated or large gates to ensure proper setup.
Installing your own gate is possible, but we don’t recommend it. Gates can weigh hundreds of pounds in some cases, and even types of gates made from the lightest materials are heavy, bulky, and difficult to maneuver into place. Positioning your gate perfectly is also crucial to make sure it swings smoothly and either closes automatically or doesn’t close without force, depending on your preferences. Mistakes made by DIYers can be quite costly, too, as the materials alone average around $1,000. As such, it’s better to hire a professional gate installer.
Yes, many providers offer reinforced steel, fire-rated, and electronic access doors for businesses.
There is a reason many commercial garages and storage facilities have roller garage doors. They stand out as one of the most secure options due to their unique design. The compact installation and absence of visible leverage points on the sturdy aluminum curtain make them a formidable obstacle for potential intruders.
Your wooden gate post hole should be a third to a half of the height of the post. Also, note that the diameter of the post hole should be three times the diameter of the post. You should set the post in concrete to ensure a long-lasting and durable post that will withstand the test of time.
