"Thank you for the review. We appreciate your business."
"Thank you very much. We are glad to be of service."
I called Alan's Gates and quickly he came out to look at the problem. He made good suggestions and now we have a wonderfully working gate. He was great to talk with because he could explain things so well. Many times workers just dismiss the wife and want to talk to the husband. I felt I had his full attention with my questions as well. I wish all business transactions went this smoothly.

The next day, my remote in my car was not functioning properly. I had to get up really close to the gate, whereas before Travis fixed it, my remote was working great. Our gate would work sometimes through the connection from the house. After a couple of weeks, I called to get Travis back out thinking that this was at least a 30 day warranty. I immediately got push back and was told that I had an old unit and that I needed to get a new unit. I explained that our remotes from cars and handheld were working great until Travis repaired it. Again, I was surprised at the resistant. Travis came back out, did a few adjustments and said if this doesn't work, then we really needed a new unit. Again, the gate was not working properly.
So we took it upon ourselves to fix it. We sealed the wire where Travis had connected outside since he had left it exposed and also found that the antenna on the gate had been bent (that is why the remotes weren't working right). The gate is working fine now.
Needless to say, I will NEVER use Alan's Gates and will tell everybody I know what had happened.
"The customer did not let us know they had issues, so we were never given a chance to address them. We did give an estimate to replace the strike line to the call box properly (this was not live electrical wire), run in conduit and buried, but it was more expensive, so we were asked to relocate and repair what was there. The customer was informed by not burying the wires properly they would likely have future issues. We got the call box working again except for talk feature and if they wanted that feature they would need a new call box. There were 2 hours of labor at 95.00 per hour plus 85.00 in parts. I always let my new customers know our hourly charges and that parts are additional before we come out (parts will vary). We never worked on the gate operator itself. The customer called back 3 weeks later and we did go back the following day for free and repaired a splice in the wire, reprogrammed the remotes and one of the cars, the other car was not home. As far as the trash etc., it could have fallen out of Travis’ truck; he says he did not intentionally leave a mess. He does apologize, as do we. We do strive to satisfy our customers."
"Thank you so much for the kind words. We were happy to be of service."

In addition to my specific need they re-routed my wires to avoid future problems and re-set the open/close timer.
They were done in short order.
