I liked their creativity, openness to our ideas, and their experience.
Description of Work: Creative Boundaries did come out and give us a quote probably 3 weeks ago. The price depended on the yard so I guess it was $5,000. It was for backyard landscaping.

I'm VERY impressed and happy with the entire experience. From the initial meeting through the actual landscaping, Mark was very prompt and friendly and informative and professional. He provided a detailed estimate with a visual representation of what the finished product would look like. He provided options and recommendations based upon my individual needs and layout. When the landscaping was performed, they tested our sprinkler system to make sure it would still work with the new plants. When the work was complete, he gave us detailed instructions on how to keep the new landscaping healthy and even stopped by a couple of days later to pick up the check when we weren't available when work was actually completed. Their estimate was among the lowest I received and included more features.
Description of Work: Removed existing bushes and installed sod and new bushes including mulch beds for them and the existing tree in front yard. Also included stone bed runoof for drain spouts.

When I called, Mark was very enthusiastic. We set an appointment - he came out and took a look. It was during pool construction so I was not quite ready for design work. I described the kind of look I was trying to achieve - he said he understood and would come back when I was ready. When he came back he took pictures, measures, etc. In a few days he brought my proposal in person and presented it. There were a couple of plants I wanted to c hange and he made recommendations and changes real time on his PC. Installation was completed a couple of days ago and I absolutely love it. They did a great job and Mark was a pleasure to work with. Very punctual and professional group.

Came and went in one day while I wasn't here but I knew to trust them from prior very good experiences with their work. They did an amazing job! I left a depressing over-grown mess and came home to a beautifully manicured landscape with not a single weed anywhere and it was perfect. They are prompt, honest, and professional and I recommend them highly.
Description of Work: Weeds had completely taken over my multiple flower beds during the long hot summer after I gave up mid-way through. They removed all weeds, removed a dead rose bush, trimmed sprouts from tree branches, trimmed back some half-dead bushes, trimmed hedges, and put down 60 bags of hardwood mulch.

We started our patio cover project by getting four estimates. All of the companies looked good, but some only worked in cedar which wasn't what we were looking for since we wanted our cover to look like it was built with our house. In the end, Creative Boundaries was competitive in cost, willing to give us exactly the look we wanted, and more thorough in their building process. Steve and Ronnie were professional and pleasant throughout the process, from the first visit to give us our free estimate until the project was completed. We were impressed that they were the only company to offer the reinforcement of concrete and rebar piering at the base of the posts to make the structure much more resistant to wind damage. We live on a golf course with nothing behind us to cut the wind, so we get some very strong gusts! As the cover is attached to our house, it helps us breathe easier knowing we are very unlikely to have the back of our house severely damaged by extreme wind. This step goes beyond the building code requirements in Rowlett. Needless to say, we had no problem getting approval for the project from our HOA or in getting a city permit. We had the wood section of our fence replaced as well, and it turned out very well. Steve and Ronnie were really nice to work with, responsive to our calls, and good about keeping us updated about when they or their contractors were coming. The finished products look great, and due to the quality of their work we look forward to many years of enjoyment, just as we had hoped!
Description of Work: Steve and Ronnie from Creative Boundaries designed a 10x12 foot patio cover based on our requests for it to look as if it was built with the house. We went with a closed gable, shingles to match the house, outdoor ceiling fan/light, and since we had brick left from when the house was constructed, we brick-wrapped the lower portion of the columns. The columns are reinforced at the bases with concrete and rebar piering, making the structure much more resistent to wind damage. We also had the wood section of our fence replaced.

Mark was very puctual and professional. He went above and beyond helping me figure out what I should do due to budget contraints. Came out to the house twice and answered my emails regularly. At the end due to the small scope of the project at the time, I decided to do the project myself and call upon him if I faultered. He was very corteous and respected my contraints. I will certainly call on him when I need th eget extensive work done. Thank you Mark for all your suggestions and patience! He is very fair, do not hesitate to use thier services.

The whole process was new to us and so I didn't know entirely what to anticipate. Mark Hicks was the project manager and did a splendid job explaining everything. As mentioned above Mark managed the entire project including the subcontractors which included not only the shrub removal team but also an irrigation team (unexpectedly) to repair some PVC pipes for our lawn irrigation that had been broken as part of the job. From the time we began planning with Mark to the day we installed the new landscaping at least a couple of months had passed so there was no pressure from him to begin. Also at my request to see some of the plant material Mark suggested using in our design, Mark took me to one of his other recent jobs which was helpful and resulted in me making some minor modifications to the design. Mark was amiable the entire time. Even when the job ran into a hurdle after severing some of the sprinkler system he didn't miss a beat as he called another irrigation company to repair it within a couple of hours. There were some other small modifications that were made during the installation and Mark made them without additional cost to me. Mark and I talked about future stone work for our home which is another service they perform. I intend to use them again. I cannot say whether Creative Boundaries was the least expensive but I will say that the professionalism, courtesy and general landscaping experience exhibited by Mark made the entire process pleasant one.
Description of Work: Front of house -- Created digital landscaping design for the front of our home. Removed existing shrubs and other plants including stump grinding. Prepared soil (new soil and mulch afterwards) around front of house where work was to be performed. Planted new plant material. Laid new sod near tree. Prepared new soil bed around tree. Trimmed tree in front yard. Back of house -- Removed fallen tree including stump grinding. Prepared new soil and laid new sod in part of the back yard where a tree had been recently. Prepared small soil bed in corner of back yard where an existing rose bush was transplanted. Note that all shrub removal and tree trimming was subcontracted to a company they work with regularly though it happened simultaneously as the other work so it was hard to distinguish the two teams and the removal work was directed by Creative Boundaries. I feel it is important to outline the entire scope of the project. I paid an additional $500 above the cost listed above for the tree trimming and shrub removal.

Mark Hicks was always on time and in touch with us throughout the completion of both projects. We had no trouble visualizing his design concept due to their computer software which displayed exactly what he proposed. We felt our desires were always taking into consideration but more than this was his knowledge and expertise especially with regard to which plants would thrive and which ones would not,
Description of Work: Upgraded original home and office landscape. Our house had the original landscaping and was in need of help and our clinic needed more curb appeal. Mark Hicks was our conatct from the start to the finish and we are beyond pleased with the outcome.

Mark from Creative Boundaries was a treat to work with. My project was basically performed in two phases, separated by the installation of an irrigation system by another provider. At every turn, he was available and made suggestions that were cheaper and/or better than my original requests. When pricing out my irrigation system, he also gave me pitfalls to watch out for when pricing and installing the irrigation system. I compared his quote with several other contractors, and he priced his work competitively. Just as important, he stayed within or extremely close to his quote. Mark also personally supervised almost all of the work himself, which was a nice touch. The patio and the backfilled area are beautiful, as are the trimmed back trees. The sod he laid down finished the job and brought my yard from a neighborhood drain to very respectable. I trust Mark and would work with him again, as he was very upfront and genuine with me.

This is a high quality firm. I absolutely recommend them to anyone wanting fencing or landscaping design and installation. The fence work was performed in a way, and with materials that I would consider top quality. The fencers were prompt, courteous, personable and kept a very clean worksite. They were obsessive about building a high-quality, beautiful fence that will last several years in peak condition. The landscaping was performed with much consultation and planning beforehand. Great effort was expended to fully understand our wishes, provide good options, and give solid reasoning for some plants and designs over others. Before any work was done, or any plants ordered, computer models were shown to us with all of our choices displayed in our actual yard - both immediately after planting and at full maturity. We were easily able to make adjustments and additions prior to the work being performed. Once the work was scheduled, it was completed on-time and within budget. The yard looks fantastic! My favorite result is that the landscaping really helps accent the beautiful parts of the house inside as well as out.
Description of Work: New Fence and Landscaping. We had a new fence installed, replacing an older one. We also had a substantial amount of new landscaping work done around the house.

I have the best looking garden in my entire neighborhood! Previously, I had the pleasure of working with Stephen and Ronnie on my patio expansion project. That was a wonderful experience, so it seemed natural to include Creative Boundaries when the time came to accept bids for an entry garden makeover. Once again, Creative Boundaries came through with the most favorable design ideas and the best comparative pricing. I’ve purposely waited two months to leave this review so that I may say with confidence that Creative Boundaries did a quality job using quality plants. I’ve been following Mark’s watering instructions and have had zero losses. In fact everything is thriving and looks more amazing with each passing day. Each plant Mark chose offers its own unique visual interest and the varied plants and colors work beautifully together. Mark was very easy to work with. He was prompt, responsive, flexible and patient. He knows his stuff and I’ll definitely be back should I decide to tackle the back yard.

Overall the process went smooth, Mark came out and gave us a quote and explained the process. They started work when they said they would and finished in a timely manner. The paito looks great and we have really enjoyed it.
Description of Work: Creative Boundaries created a flagstone patio for our back yard. They poured a concrete patio first and then came back a few days later and layed the flagstone on top of that. The patio is 13' x 18' and our yard slopes quite a bit so they had to pour it much thicker on one end to make it level.

In a world where customer service and appreciation are more often lacking than not, Stephen and Ronnie are incredibly refreshing. From the very first meeting all the way through project completion we received consistently exceptional service. I have no doubt whatsoever that the Creative Boundaries team values their $1,000 customers just as much as their $10,000 customers. They are pleasant, helpful, responsive, communicative, thorough, punctual, professional, fairly priced ... just about as close to perfection as one could hope. Stephen - in particular - invested a great deal of time with us … both face-to-face and via the telephone. Truthfully, more time than I would have ever expected anyone to invest for such a small project. He called regularly to notify us of what to expect next and was always willing to spend time fielding any questions we had about the project. He sometimes even allowed us to pick his brain regarding things that had nothing at all to do with the project at hand. Stephen and/or Ronnie visited the job site numerous times as the project progressed and were always willing to work with our schedule even if it meant giving up a little of their own family time. Stephen completely understood and respected our budget limitations and never once so much as suggested we do anything more than we wanted ... no up-selling or pressure whatsoever. NONE! In fact Stephen was more than willing to provide us with some money saving options and to work in phases – patio now, cover later, built-ins even later. Only once was there a problem, and it was a teeny-tiny problem by all standards. The concrete guys had come out a day in advance to set up for the next day’s pouring process. After they left, I noticed the hole they had dug for pier placement was off. I called Stephen that night. He and Ronnie were here very early the next morning – before the concrete guys even showed – digging the hole in the right spot themselves. Oh and did I mention the project was completed earlier than we expected!!! We will definitely be back in the future to complete the next phase(s) of our project and look forward to recommending Creative Boundaries to family and friends. They’re just SUPER!!!

My overall experience with Mark at Creative Boundaries was great. He was very patient with us throughout the entire process. On his first visit he took several pictures of the property. He then imported them into his design software and created us a before and after representation of the plants he envisioned. He invited us to the nursery and spent 2 hours of his time making us feel comfortable with the plants that he had selected. He was open to feed back and changed the design when we found a few others that we liked. Mark and his team provided excellent customer service and followed through with everything that was promised. I highly recommend Creative Boundaries
Description of Work: Creative Boundaries did a complete overhaul of our front and side yards. This job also required the demolition of a planter in the front yard, removal of brick planter in the front flower bed, and the removal/stump grinding of 4 trees. Once all the existing plants and shrubs were removed, Creative Boundaries brought in all new soill to prep the beds. Four decorative river rock beds were built under the gutter downspouts. Sprinkler heads were moved to allow for the new planter design. Approximately 10 decorative boulders were brought in along with several feet of chopped stone to line the beds. Three Japanese Maples and one Magnolia were then planted. Once the trees were in place approximately 40 shrubs were brought in to fill out the remaining beds. Finally, sod was brought in to accomodate for the flower bed design changes.
