"I had very low water pressure in my guest room bath shower. I would have rated this company higher but they were an hour and forty five minutes late for the scheduled appointment. My appointment was scheduled for 1:00 p.m. At 2:00 p.m. I called the office to find out when I could expect the plumbers to arrive. I was told they were "on the way." The plumbers arrived at 2:45 p.m. Also, I was a little shocked at the cost of the repair. They charged me $255.00 to replace 2 small washers and to clean and reuse some small qizmo with a spring inside the shower valve. They didn't replace the gizmo, they cleaned and reused the original one. The only new parts they put in were the 2 small washers. $255.00 seemed a bit excessive. The plumbers were nice enough and professional, but they never offered an apology (or reason) for being late. It would've been nice if they had said they were sorry or offered even a lame excuse for being late. It also would've been nice if they had offered/given a discount for being late. I would use this company again but ONLY in an emergency if I couldn't get another plumber."

"Gary & Greg were very punctual and professional. They arrived when they said they would and began work immediately. They were very respectful of our home and our pets, and accomplished their task with as little damage as possible to the drywall.  The job was completed right on time, and we are very satisfied with their work.  I would highly recommend Young's Plumbing and I would definitely call them again in the future if we require any additional plumbing work.

"Our sewer kept backing up at our office- We contacted A-Solution Plumbing- Mike and his crew came out, ran the cable and found a few breaks in the sewer line. They had to jack hammer the concrete and repair the line. This was all done during business hours- The guys were very courteous, repaired the line and cleaned the area once repairs were complete. Mike went above and beyond in explaining where the problem was and what needed to be done to repair. I highly recommend this company."

"I was extremely pleased with the work from Alb’s Brothers Plumbing. I had a problem with my water heater where I had water leaking from my ceiling. The technician was very knowledgeable, had the correct tools and got there quick. I’m glad that I can rely on a plumbing company who is there for my plumbing needs."

"I had a good experience with them. The shut-off valve drove the cost up. It probably ended up being about $500 but I added a shut-off valve that was not part of the problem. He was friendly and honest, I believe. I think the cost was fair. It was a fair amount of money but it was a lot of work too."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

An active cleaning agent and a drain snake is the best way to clean a main sewer line. You can purchase a regular or enzyme drain cleaner or make a DIY drain cleaner with baking soda. Use your chosen solution at least once a month or as needed to keep your sewer line clear.

Roto-Rooter does not charge by the hour, so the quote you get after your in-person consultation should cover the whole project. This includes the time it takes a technician to get to your house and the time it takes to complete the job. For context, a plumber will charge anywhere from $45 to $200 per hour, but you may also pay a service fee or flat fee.

Some experts estimate that descaling your cast iron pipes can extend their lifetime by upwards of 50 years, although there’s not a lot of research to prove it. But we do know that without proper maintenance, cast iron pipes can quickly rust—leading to more expensive issues like burst pipes or main line clogs.

If you want to avoid using a snake to unclog a drain, or if you don’t have one, try vinegar and baking soda. Pour 1 cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by 1 cup of white vinegar. Wait for 15 minutes, and then run hot water (but not boiling water) down the drain to see if the clog is clear. Repeat multiple times as needed.

The cost to unclog a drain varies based on the location and severity of the clog. For simple clogs within your home, such as in a sink, toilet, or shower, hiring a plumber typically costs between $110 and $350, with an average of around $200. Snaking a toilet or sink usually costs between $110 and $275, while a bathtub or shower clog costs about $225.

For a more serious clog in the main sewer line, the cost is higher. Clearing a main line clog generally costs between $200 and $600, with an average of about $380. However, prices can range from as low as $100 for snaking a minor clog to over $1,600, particularly if advanced methods like video inspection and hydrojetting are needed for a large or hard-to-reach blockage. Some severe main line clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear depending on factors like the cause of the clog, its distance from an accessible cleanout, and whether the pipe is located beneath an occupied space (e.g., in an apartment building). You may be able to save money on minor clogs by using a drain snake or bladder yourself.
