"This was our second time using Pinckard Landscaping, and once again, it was truly a job well done. This time, we decided to have new landscaping installed in our front yard. We worked with Sandy and after meeting with us, discussing our preferences and taking meticulous measurements, she came back with a color rendering of her recommendations for the project. We made just a few adjustments and the work began the following week. The yard looks amazing!"

"Came out and gave me a free quote. Calvin kept in contact with me to arrange the best day to get the work done. They came and tore out the old driveway and paved the new driveway the same day. I couldn’t be happier with the final result."

Customers say: Quality work

"They do more of a natural landscaping and it just wasn't what I wanted, I wanted something a little different. He was fine, but kind of caters to a specific type of person. It was all fine, I don't remember any problems."

"First of all, Aaron (the owner) is awesome. He was involved in the project all the way. From the bid stage to the project stage and the correction stage (more on that later). It's not the typical set-up where the owner shows up at the start to bid and the end to collect the cash. They first provided a sample of the smear. However, due to it being on a smaller area and having different exposure to the sun as the front of the house, we asked Aaron to come back and do another larger sample on the front, which he happily did. The trick with applying mortar on brick is that the color is dark initially but becomes lighter over a week or so after drying. So, it is a little bit of trial and error. After the crew finished all the work (it took about 4-5 days), we paid Aaron. He assured us at that time that he stands behind all the work and will not disappear on us. Well, after a week had passed, we realized that the color of the house was still too dark and some parts were not uniform and even darker. We reached out to Aaron again and asked him if he could help. Given that we had already paid him a week ago, he could very well have refused to help us. Instead, he came back with the crew and REDID the entire house in the new lighter color. And he did it with a smiling face. That kind of commitment is unheard of and very impressive. The house looks GREAT now. While they were there a second time, we also asked him to make some small repairs on a brick wall which caused the color there to be a little different. Aaron told to me to call him in a week if the color of those spots still looked different after drying for a week. Well, it does look a little different after a week and I told Aaron, and guess what- he is coming back to go over those few spots in the next week or so to match the color. Outstanding work, great guy and great crew, awesome service and very reasonable prices. We will use Aaron for an outdoor kitchen in a few weeks once we get some additional work done in the backyard. HIGHLY recommended."

"This was a driveway extension. Not only was the quote better than four others, the customer service was outstanding and professional. They were on the project the next day and didnâ t stop until it was perfect and done. No mess left behind and a beautiful driveway extension. I would certainly recommend them."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

Common alternatives to a gravel driveway include concrete, asphalt, brick, stone pavers, and permeable pavers. Concrete and asphalt are generally the most affordable options. However, concrete can be prone to cracking in cold climates, while asphalt may soften in areas with high heat and direct sun exposure. For enhanced curb appeal, brick, stone, and permeable pavers are popular choices, though their installation can be more expensive due to intricate designs. Stone pavers offer a natural look and are sometimes installed with gravel around them. Both permeable pavers and brick driveways provide excellent drainage, which helps prevent flooding and reduce water runoff.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

Whether you should resurface or replace your asphalt driveway heavily depends on its condition. If the foundation is solid and the damage is minor, resurfacing is your best bet because it’s more affordable and faster than replacing the driveway. But if your driveway has foundational problems and/or severe damage, like large, deep cracks and potholes, then it makes more sense to replace it.

Wet cutting is usually the preferred method. It controls dust, which helps protect your lungs and makes for a cleaner working environment. Plus, the water cools the blade, preventing overheating and prolonging its life while providing smoother, more precise cuts. The downside is the mess—water and asphalt sludge can be messy to clean. Dry cutting, though convenient if water isn’t available, creates a lot of dust, which can be harmful. This also increases the risk of blade damage due to overheating. So, if you have the option, wet cutting is the better method for most asphalt jobs.

This creates a risk for your driveway to fail after asphalt curing because it doesn't have a lasting bond with the surface. In order to get asphalt to perform as intended, it's necessary to prepare the dirt surface correctly first. The loose soil base under the new driveway must be compacted until it is stable enough to support the weight of the asphalt.
