"The gentleman who provided the service for my driveway was Keith. He came all the way out from Ft Worth to Van Alstyne ( over an one hour drive) to discuss my situation. I had a dirt driveway that was not level and would retain water after a good rain. Keith was able to build the driveway up and level it. The finished product looks great. A very fair price for the quality of work. If you have any driveway needs I would give Keith a call. You will not be disappointed with their work."

"Would highly recommend this company. All aspects of process were top notch and all employees were focused on quality over speed. Iam totally happy with our quarter of a mile driveway which now is an accent to the appearance of our property. Stop with the never ending repairs to your driveways and pave it with Allstar."

"I have a permeable driveway surfaced with StabiliGrid and chip stone. The initial installation was done without adequate compacting of the base. Country Roads removed the grid, compacted the base, and reinstalled the grid. We were able to accomplish this without needing any additional material. Driveway works great!"

"The contractor was always available and responded quickly to questions and to provide information to help identify best options to create optimum results without unnecessary expense. He then worked with the Township to fully meet code requirements within those same goals. The site team worked in a coordinated and cooperative manner to produce a functional and visually satisfying final product. They paid close attention to project production and finishing details as well as respect for the surrounding area."

"This was a driveway extension. Not only was the quote better than four others, the customer service was outstanding and professional. They were on the project the next day and didnâ t stop until it was perfect and done. No mess left behind and a beautiful driveway extension. I would certainly recommend them."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

You should not attempt to install your own driveway. Whether working with asphalt or pavement, this is a complicated project that requires special equipment. Talk to some nearby asphalt or paving professionals and discuss your particular needs—it’s a good idea to get a few quotes and look at the company’s past work.

The three most common types of asphalt are hot asphalt, MC cold mix, and UPM asphalt. Hot asphalt is used most often for paving and patching roadways while it’s hot and workable. MC cold mix asphalt cures more slowly than hot asphalt, but it can be used for temporary patches and repairs in low-traffic areas. UPM is also used cold, but it can be used as a longer-term fix, usable in almost any conditions at almost any temperature.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

It takes recycled asphalt 48 hours to initially harden and up to 3 months to fully cure. It’s best to stay off of recycled asphalt for at least 48 hours, then you can walk or drive standard vehicles on it. Hold off on driving heavy trucks or equipment on it for at least 7 days. Allowing the surface to melt together and harden ensures that the surface stays durable and long-lasting.

While the specific timeline for building a driveway can vary based on driveway length and local weather conditions, the average concrete driveway can require several days to lay down all of the different parts of the driveway. The curing process may require you to avoid using your driveway for a week following construction. Heavier vehicles should be kept off of a new concrete driveway for several weeks. Building a gravel driveway may take just one to two days in total.
