"It did not go well. The owners are very entertaining and engaging. They managed to convince me to re-do the hall bath from studs out. Unlike the others asked to bid these gentlemen did not quote materials, only labor/contracting. It was on me to find and purchase all of the fixtures and finishes. They did set me up with a location that had many of the materials I needed and even visited the tile store with me. Unfortunately, the tub I selected on my own had to be returned as did the shower fixture."

We are a small partnership of craftsmen, with a pool of labour resources for larger jobs. Any services that we do not provide directly or that you could save money by using another provider will be recommended. We don't believe in charging you a fee to make a phone call therefore we don't use subcontractors. For example if you have a new construction project needing & entire AC system, we will call our preferred AC company & introduce you & you will pay them directly. We take no referral fees or mark up prices. This guarantees you that you are getting the company we think will do the best job. We charge a day rate for larger project that consists of a fee covering our equipment, a supervisor and a craftsman, as needed you will pay a fee for each additional labourer covering their cost for the day. This keeps cost down regardless of the size of your job. We have worked on dozens of landmark historical churches and homes and use old world craftsmanship with the latest in materials and technology to ensure quality results on all of our projects. Although we can handle highly skilled large projects we take as much care and offer savings for your two hour need. All customers are important to our business as you are our only advertisement. Award winning. ***All work is guaranteed for 1 year from the date the work was completed.***

"Can't recommend Lakewood Restoration enough. They did a great job, at a great price, and on budget. I am amazed at how well he built a wall on an existing wall of a loft and closed it in to make another bedroom. He explained everything well with me and really cared about getting this project done correctly. He is very detail orientated and would recommend again!"

"I was concerned that the only electrical outlet in my garage was no longer working (that's where I re-charge my battery-operated lawn equipment). It turned out I only had to push the reset button in my bathroom (the only reset button in my home). I feel foolish, but I'm certainly learning a lot about electrical problems in my home and how to resolve them on my own! I appreciated the brief time Mariano G. was at my home to assist me in resolving the problem."

"In August 2022, after hearing about DFW Improved on a home improvement radio show, we entered into two contracts with them for a roof replacement and interior water damage repair. These contracts were based on insurance-approved scopes following the 2021 ice storm. DFW Improved began the roof replacement project first. Following the replacement, the roof continued to leak due to their failure to replace the flashings. Despite corresponding work items in the insurance scope (confirmed later by the insurance adjuster's email), the DFW Improved salesperson insisted that flashing was not part of the roof. He threatened legal action if further payment was not made. Prior to this, they presented two identical model shingles as choices, which their own roof subcontractor on-site disclosed. Upon our inquiry via email, instead of addressing the issue, the salesperson accused us of defaming their company. Furthermore, they quoted $900 for a non-existent siding hole and estimated $25,000 for a bookcase, which their own designer valued at $6,000 to $7,000. While the roof leaking issue was still unresolved, DFW Improved began interior work. Instead of submitting the agreed supplement request as agreed, they skipped necessary steps to cut water-damaged drywall. To prevent wasted effort, we instructed workers to stop. The salesperson responded, stating that workers would not proceed with any work not approved by insurance. However, he emailed the insurance company claiming that the work had already been completed, causing significant confusion for us. During the halt period, we sent out numerous issues such as broken air pipes, cracked roof rafters, missing insulation, roof holes, missing felt paper, and a leaking roof. However, we received no response other than prevaricate explanations and demanding for money. We escalated to the DFW Improved upper manager who responded that they are their best team members and disregarded our request for an alternative project team. DFW Improved abandoned the projects and warranties, and initiated separation in December 2022. Both parties engaged in negotiations over separation costs. During this process, DFW Improved unexpectedly sent four individuals to our house, claiming to inspect texture work and demanding payment. Subsequently, DFW Improved placed a lien on our house, and their lawyer sent a demanding letter stating they would auction our house and (quote)“sue Vigorously” if payment was not made, despite the mediation/arbitration clause clearly outlined in the contracts. Under this pressure, we filed a claim in Tarrant County Small Claims Court, where the lien was placed. Later, their lawyer filed a motion to transfer the case to Collin County, where DFW Improved is based. We refused to comply with a demand for $5,000 and the confidentiality requirement during mediation. DFW Improved filed a new case simultaneously in the higher Tarrant County District Court, demanding a new amount of $59,845 and seeking to enforce the lien, providing no explanation for this amount. According to their co-owner's email, their accounting book calculated that we owed them a total of $1,260 (detailed below). During pre-mediation discussions, their lawyer attempted to justify their request for $8k, citing that a significant portion was allocated to attorneys' fees. We did not engage their lawyer to send us a threatening letter containing false statements about suing us without mediation. Their lawyer also declined $65 public mediator service provided by the Tarrant Small Claims Court. Additionally, they unilaterally escalated the dispute to a higher court. We have never been late with their payments. In fact, DFW Improved made a math error by crediting the blind work twice. When we brought this to their attention, DFW Improved spent extra time correcting the invoice, and their salesperson initiated an internal investigation. Any delay was certainly not caused by us. DFW Improved filed a lien attempting to collect the costs again, despite already receiving payment. We are uncertain about the extent and duration of the legal battle DFW Improved and their lawyer will continue to pursue. It has been nearly two years. Instead of assisting us with the aftermath of a natural disaster, DFW Improved attempted to extort money from us and our insurance provider. Ev Charger Installer questions, answered by experts

Yes, although there are different types of electricians, they must be licensed, certified, and in most cases insured. States have different requirements for electrician licensing and certifications. In some cases, there may be licensing requirements at the local level, but not the state level. It’s always a good practice to confirm requirements with your local municipality. If licensing is not required in your area, you may pay more for a licensed electrician with experience than one who is not licensed or certified, but you’re likely to get a better end result for your project.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

Hire an electrician the same way you would an employee. Ask questions and look for a good fit. Streamline the process by using these questions to ask an electrician. It's also common to ask for a quote in writing. Don’t forget to provide all the project details to ensure there are no surprises or opportunities for added fees.

Having a Level 2 charger can increase your home value, especially as electric vehicles become more popular. Homebuyers who have EVs or are interested in getting one will appreciate the convenience of a ready-to-use charging station. The added value can vary based on location and buyer preferences.

Upgrading your electrical system can save you money on your monthly utility bills by powering your home more efficiently. Electrification nonprofit Rewiring America estimates that a household could save $1,800 per year on energy bills by upgrading to a modern electric heat pump, switching to a heat pump for their water, installing solar panels on the roof, and converting to an electric vehicle.

You can plug your electric car into a regular 120-volt household outlet only if you’re using a Level 1 charger. This method is slower and may take several days to fully charge your EV. For faster charging, you’ll need a Level 2 charger, which requires a 220- or 240-volt outlet.
