I had already decided on a light-colored roof to try to cool down the attic (and thus the house), and had done a good bit of research on roofing materials before I called. I saw that Magnum was factory-certified in the installation of the Certainteed brand of shingles, and had compiled a list of questions regarding several of the styles that had caught my eye. Dustin answered all of my questions patiently and comprehensively, and I ended up with a superior and attractive asphalt shingle roof in a color that was light enough to stay cool, qualified for the Energy Star tax rebate, was far less expensive than the metal shingles I had been eying originally, and still looked great! I was even able to preview what it would look like, as they had recently finished the roofing on a church in my area with the identical product. We also agreed to replace my solar roof vent with a newer model they sell, and transfer my old one to the garage roof, and they replaced the secondary turbine vent on the house with a newer and better-quality unit as well. They re-roofed both the house and the detached garage, and were finished in a day and a half. They worked hard to clean up after themselves, even running a magnet over the lawn to pick up stray screws, nails, etc. Billing was half in advance, half at completion. The roofs looked gorgeous, and I smile every time I come down the street and see them. The only drawback I found in the whole job was that the chimney piece of my hot water heater (in the garage) apparently became detached from the unit while the garage was being done, and the little cover that fits around the hole in the roof where it exits ended up 8 inches above the hole. I did not notice this initially (who thinks to look at the top of their water heater, which is above my head?), and rain eventually got into the hole and put out the pilot. I had to call my plumber and pay for a service call to get the heater re-lit and the chimney repaired and re-sealed. Aside from that, no problems, and very happy with the work."

Dean came out and measured the chimney. A few weeks later he called to inform us the local shop that does the building of the chimney cap had lost the measurements. He informed us that they were just written on a piece of paper, no copies or anything. The company that builds these did not even call him. So, he comes out to measure again. A few weeks ago he mentioned that it should be ready and that when the weather is nice they will install it. The weather was nice all week and no installation. I have contacted the company again today. I am not sure I would use these pre-pay coupons on angle's list again.
