"This is the first time I have hired someone to paint and it turned out better than expected. Called Scott on a Wednesday morning and he came that same day to give us a quote. He then spent the next day and a half painting 3 rooms and they turned out awesome. He was very polite and answered any questions we had. He even offered to give us helpful hints on painting next time we DIY'it after he noticed that we had done double the work upstairs (we did a few rooms by ourselves before we got too exhausted and decided to call for help).

Jose and assistant removed damaged and cracked sheetrock and prepared them for painting. They then applied texture that matched existing walls and ceiling-both of which were different textures. They removed the old crown molding and put up the new one. They then painted the walls and then the entire ceiling. That's where the ceiling gave us a problem. There were many areas in the ceiling that bled through a yellowish color-most likely because of how old the sheetrock was-which was what the guess was. Therefore, they had to paint the entire ceiling with primer and then paint over it again with the paint. So basically, they had to paint that entire ceiling three times! I felt so bad that they had to do so much extra work! They also painted all of the new crown molding. I was expecting Jose to charge me extra for all the additional work the ceiling created but he didn't! Each time I have used Jose to do all repairs to our house. He does excellent work and his fees are very reasonable.

"I found Phillip on Angie's List. This is my first purchased home and the first time I had any major repair work.   I initially called him to come give estimates on a variety of cosmetic and remodeling projects I am anxious to start. He showed up the next day and we did a thorough walk through with my to do list. As we were completing our conversation, Phillip noticed I had some rotting wood at the base of my patio door (on the inside of the living room).  Upon further inspection, there was also water damage with the flooring in the living room (small area), the flagstone patio outside, and the patio entry stair was higher than the threshold of the doors.   The patio doors I knew were cheap to begin with, and I had also noticed when it rained the water would splash over the outdoor threshold and sometimes into the house.   Of course I was disappointed at first that I was going to have to address these repairs instead of making the house "pretty".  I was appreciative that Phillip took the time to explain to me that if I waited too long, the issue could become much larger over time (possibly termites or worse).  Even though my renovations were likely a much larger and beneficial job for his company, he advised me that repair should take precedence.   At first I was a bit shell shocked with the estimate of what the repairs would cost (again first time home buyer). After doing some research of my own on the cost of the materials, I confirmed that what Phillip quoted me was very reasonable.    We replaced the patio doors with energy efficient fiber glass that has a lengthy warranty. Gutters were added to redirect the rain to my outdoor patio drains preventing further damage. The entry stair for the patio was removed and made shorter in height so that the water was no longer running underneath the doors inside to the living room floor. I had an extra box of my laminate flooring in the garage and his team replaced the damaged floor in the living room for free. The repaint of the patio ceiling and painting the new gutters to match my trim was done with the paints that I already had in my garage to alleviate further expense to me.   Unrelated to their tasks: while the team was here I noticed a foul smell taking over the back of the house. Phillip came inside and determined it was my plumbing vents (the pvc pipes coming out of the roof) that were for some reason sealed! He took before and after photos of the pipes and repaired them at no additional cost.  Also when he came to my front door for the first visit I couldn't even open it for him. He also fixed this for free. One of the items on my original list was to repair the crack across the patio, they also repaired this at very minimal cost.  When his team was done, the first big rain came the following day and small adjustments that needed to be made were visible. He had them back out to complete these that same week.  I very much appreciated that Phillip went out of his way to make my repairs as painless as possible by fixing extra things (at no charge) so I could see as many results as possible when his team was done.  I look forward to working with the company again on renovations and further repairs that come along."

"The Houston Handyman was terrific. They arrived ontime. Did the prep work, then went to hardware store for materials needed. Took their time with job. Repaired corners that animals has gotten to on several gables with flashing and paint that matched perfectly. Repaired a window that had original cardboard framing. Also original trim pieces made of fiberboard were replaced with cedar and painted. The exterior looks 100% better with these well done repairs.
