"Jim for Donhohues Lightning Rods installed the lightning rod system in my home. When the work was done I was very happy as their installer came as per promised time, and perform the work. Before giving them the work Jim completely sold me their work ethics, quality, and service. There was a minor issue and his team took complete ownership of this issue and talked to me in detail. They provide a very good explanation to satisfy me. I am a happy customer."

"Lightning rod installation in 2022 and the work was done flawlessly, the technicians were professional, left my property clean and tidy and the work they did looks appealing. My total cost was less than $3k and it was worth every penny as two other houses in my neighborhood got striken and burned."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Whether you need electrical upgrades depends on the electronics your game room includes. If your game room will have high-powered electronics, arcade machines, or a home theater, you may need to upgrade your electrical panel or add dedicated circuits. An electrician can assess your current system and provide an estimate for any necessary upgrades.

There is no blanket figure for a residential home’s electrical load, since load varies by the size of the home, how many appliances are used, and the efficiency of their electrical systems. Typically, however, it’s safe to assume 40 to 60 amps is the average electrical load of a residential home.

Yes, but our analogy with the water hose doesn’t really work here. You see, electrical flow isn’t constant: It ebbs and flows like waves, coming in pulses of power. Hertz measures the rate of change in the flow of electricity, or how often it ebbs and flows. For example, 60Hz means that the electrons pulse through wiring 60 times per second. When they are pulsing, they’re in a brief retreat. Almost all United States equipment is rated for 60Hz.

You can install a three-prong outlet without connecting any ground and plug in three-prong electronics into that outlet. The devices will function normally, but you won’t get any of the protection that grounding provides, so there’s an increased risk of serious problems if something goes wrong.

Electrical meter risers connect your home’s electrical meter to overhead power lines so you can receive electrical service from the grid. Electrical meters also have a weatherhead, which protects the utility lines connected to your home’s electrical system via the service entrance cable. Risers connect the weatherhead to your electrical meter socket, which connects to the meter.
