"We were having some settling issues on one end of the house. There was a crack that ran from the corner of the window (indoors) across the wall, not in the seam. It was very noticeable. When they got through placing the power braces on the end of the house I went in and almost all of the crack was gone. They did an excellent job. There were other cracks that were expected when leveling the house. easy fixes. even the outside is looking better, although we will probably re do the stucco. Thanks guys for being so polite and efficient in your work, and Nick we really did enjoy the visit / estimate time. ð God Bless, stay safe. The Gary Crutcher family Wellman Texas"

Home Inspection FAQs, answered by experts

It is generally not safe to live in a house with smoke damage, as even minor damage can pose long-term health hazards and structural risks. While it might seem safe temporarily depending on the severity, you should relocate if there is major damage or visible soot. Smoke smells and residue contain dangerous particulates and chemical compounds, including carcinogens, that are hazardous to breathe and can cause respiratory issues. These signs of damage are not always visible but can have dangerous short-term and long-term effects on your health, belongings, and your home's structural materials. You should not stay in the house until a trained professional from a smoke remediation or restoration company has assessed the damage and determined it is safe to return. Your insurance company may cover the cost of alternative housing while the professional work is completed.

Systems should be checked every 2-3 years or whenever signs of age appear, maintaining network integrity and safety at all times.

While it’s not mandatory unless you’re purchasing a home, it is important to schedule regular home electrical inspections for safety and to maintain your house’s value. Inspections can reduce fire risk and can help save money on insurance premiums. They can also catch problems before they start, saving money on repairs down the line.

The small lines on the tape measure either indicate inches, fractions of an inch, or centimeters and millimeters. On the imperial unit side (aka the inches side), the longest lines indicate inches, followed by the next shortest lines that indicate a half-inch, and then the quarter, eighth, and sixteenth-inch. On the metric side, the lines break down meters, centimeters, and millimeters.

Measure from zero on a measuring tape by placing the metal hook right up against the edge of what you need to measure. You can also latch the hook onto an open edge—of, say, a table—to accurately measure as well. If you begin at the 1-inch mark, you'll need to subtract an inch from your total.
