Customers say: Terrific value

"I had a wonderful experience with Mr Clement. He was very patient and entertained my budget and countertop stone choices. He will work with you, be respectful and guide you through the entire process. My kitchen and master bath look outstanding. I will seek Brillian Home Interiors for future projects and recommend them with enthusiasm. What an honor to be the first review, certainly not the last."

"The service and speed with which Stone Designs was able to do my quartz countertop project was amazing. Took less than a week from reaching out and asking for an estimate to final completion. Very fairly priced amongst the other local and bigger box completion. Excellent!"

"Anthony Zola and his crew did a fantastic job for me. I couldn't be happier with the way they completed the replacement of all grout and filling of various cracks in stones with matching colors. He paid attention to detail and did a wonderful job for a very detail oriented home owner. I would recommend Anthony and his team for any grout restoration and crack repair project. "Albert and his team at Floors Galore did an awesome job. The two man team installed the flooring extremely well and really fast. To top it all off the quote we received from them was the lowest price out of many other companies. We will definitely be using them again for future home projects."

"We are very pleased with the work done by Tony. He was punctual and responsive which we appreciated greatly. He fixed unleveled bathroom tiles, repaired and matched the grout in the entire bathroom (and kitchen). He also buffed , sealed and repaired granite countertops in the bathroom and kitchen. He cleaned, sealed and caulked and repaired grout in the bathroom shower. And the finale was pressure washing the driveway and front walk. Everything looks great, fresh and clean."

Stone Countertops questions, answered by experts

There are many differences between solid surface and quartz countertops. Whether one is as good as the other will depend on what you value most in a counter. These two materials are nonporous, although quartz is more durable. Some people may prefer the look of quartz, although they’re both available in many different colors and designs.

Quartz countertops are not recommended for outdoor use. While durable indoors, they are not designed to withstand outdoor conditions like sunlight, weather, and high heat from barbeque grills. Exposure to these elements, particularly UV rays, can cause the resins in the quartz to break down, leading to discoloration and damage to the surface. For a longer-lasting outdoor countertop, it is better to choose a natural stone like granite, which has greater resistance to these elements.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.

The least porous countertop material is engineered quartz. Made from a blend of natural quartz and resins, it is non-porous and highly resistant to stains, scratches, and bacteria. This makes quartz countertops exceptionally low-maintenance and durable, ideal for kitchens and bathrooms where hygiene and easy upkeep are priorities. Other non-porous options include solid surface materials like Corian, which also offer excellent resistance to moisture and stains.

Choosing the right countertop material means balancing price, quality, and budget. However, there are a few popular high-end choices when it comes to countertops that many homeowners use to elevate their bathroom aesthetic:
