"Gotcha Covered did a wonderful job on my home. I got a new roof, wood siding, paint whole house on outside, new patio roof, new gutters, replaced windows in front of the house, and much more. They’re now my go-to for all house repairs!"

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"We recently purchased new siding and windows from Renew Home Exteriors. I HIGHLY recommend them!! David and his team are professional and efficient. Due to Covid restraints, it actually took a while for the siding to arrive. David called every week with an update. There was a minor issue with the corner pieces in the chimney. They took care of it immediately. The windows are not only beautiful but energy efficient. AND they were LITERALLY half the price of the next nearest bid I received. If you need siding or windows, please call them!"

"Means Painting was great to work with! They were 1 of 3 bidders and the only one to come in within my budget for exterior paint. They came on time every day, did outstanding work and helped me when I struggled with some last minute painting decisions. They were friendly, patient and professional, I would highly recommend them and will use them again should the need arise. My house looks brand new, not an easy feat for something built in the 1920's!"

"We had 3 estimates done on replacing the siding on our 2-story chimney. It had been damaged by squirrels who had taken up residence (we had our exterminator come and clear out the nest and patch the holes, but the siding itself was damaged). Robert was the first one to respond, the first one to submit an estimate (it was submitted the day after the request was made...one of the other estimates didn't come in until almost a week later!), and provided us with an estimate that was significantly below the other two that came in. He was professional and understanding of our need for an accelerated timeline (the property standards "police" in our neighborhood are vigilant, and we didn't want a citation!), the crew was great, Robert's communication was top-notch, and we're VERY pleased with the experience from start to finish!"

Siding questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, the thicker the siding, the higher the quality. Thicker siding provides a stronger resistance against extreme weather conditions. Thicker siding also tends to fade more slowly under the sun. Hardie boards, a popular fiber cement siding option, is usually 5/16 inches thick. Meanwhile, masonry-finished cement siding varies from 5/8 to 5/8 inches thick.

For the materials alone, a square of siding costs an average of $600, but prices can range from $100 to $3,000, depending on the material. Vinyl siding costs toward the lower end of that range, while real brick or stone siding costs closer to the higher end. Keep in mind that many boxes of siding contain two squares, enough to cover 200 square feet, so you may need to double your cost if you only need one square.

Yes, clapboard siding generally costs more compared to vinyl. The average cost for vinyl siding is between $2 and $7 per square foot. Meanwhile, clapboard siding costs $4 to $20 per square foot.

There should be small gaps between your roof and the walls of your home, and other buildings. These small gaps let building materials shift, expand, and contract with weather and other outside forces, and they prevent moisture from wicking down walls from roofing and gutter systems. Without these strategic gaps, your home’s exterior and its finishes can sustain water damage, decay, peel, delaminate, and crack. However, there is a fine line between a smart gap and a problematic gap—all  gaps should be small, intentional, and covered or filled in with foam insulation to prevent pests from using them as access points.

Costs vary based on home size, siding quality, labor, and any necessary repairs to underlying structures. High-grade materials and insulation options tend to influence the overall expense.
