"Fantastic Plumbing installed main sewer drain from my house to the street in August 2017. I was unhappy with the results (damage to yard/grass) so I wrote a negative review. The owner contacted me regarding the review in October, he and his crew came to my house and tried to correct the damage to my yard by spreading and raking excess dirt. I believe they tried to do the right thing."

"I cannot say enough great things about this company. Ben and his crew are the most thorough, courteous, and efficient foundation company you will find. They took special detail to match my mortar color when patching cracks! The French drain they installed is beautiful, sturdy, and will keep my foundation safe for years to come. I am so grateful to this company for protecting my home and taking such care with it. You canâ t go wrong with them!"

"José and his crew were amazing and did such a beautiful job! They revamped flower beds, installed drain lines, built an island bed, and dug a burn pit for us. They worked nonstop and did a wonderful clean-up at the end. We will most definitely use them again!"

"We had the entire back side of our house leveled by Brown, then four years later we called them again to level the front part of the house that had a crack. They were always there when they said they would be, they cleaned up all the trash when they left and afterward sent someone to check the plumbing to make sure there were no leaks."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Some experts estimate that descaling your cast iron pipes can extend their lifetime by upwards of 50 years, although there’s not a lot of research to prove it. But we do know that without proper maintenance, cast iron pipes can quickly rust—leading to more expensive issues like burst pipes or main line clogs.

The cost to unclog a drain varies based on the location and severity of the clog. For simple clogs within your home, such as in a sink, toilet, or shower, hiring a plumber typically costs between $110 and $350, with an average of around $200. Snaking a toilet or sink usually costs between $110 and $275, while a bathtub or shower clog costs about $225.

For a more serious clog in the main sewer line, the cost is higher. Clearing a main line clog generally costs between $200 and $600, with an average of about $380. However, prices can range from as low as $100 for snaking a minor clog to over $1,600, particularly if advanced methods like video inspection and hydrojetting are needed for a large or hard-to-reach blockage. Some severe main line clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear depending on factors like the cause of the clog, its distance from an accessible cleanout, and whether the pipe is located beneath an occupied space (e.g., in an apartment building). You may be able to save money on minor clogs by using a drain snake or bladder yourself.

This depends on the location of the blockage. If the blockage is in your home’s system, anywhere in the system, it is your responsibility as a homeowner. Blockages seldom happen because of items or buildup coming from the city, which means it originates in the home. It becomes the city’s responsibility at the exact point your home’s line distributes waste into the city’s system. The exception is if the problem in your home damages the city lines.

There are several steps you can take to prevent your AC drain from clogging. This includes cleaning the drain line at least every three months, changing the filter every one to three months, and getting your AC serviced annually. Also, if any problems arise with your AC, hire an HVAC technician to deal with them ASAP.

No. You should never pour old paint down a drain or sewer because it can clog pipes and pollute the environment. You must dispose of paint properly and safely. Different types of paint need to be disposed of in different ways—oil-based paints must be taken to a paint recycling center, while you can throw dried-out water- or latex-based paints in the garbage.
