They helped locate and fix 9 leaks in my home, due to freezing pipes, in a matter of 1/2 a day. "We had a new drain line installed for our washer, which is located in the middle of our home. Both Allen and Miguel were professional in their work. The job required jackhammering concrete in the laundry room and piercing a new 2-drain line under the house foundation. We are very happy with the result. Allen and Miguel were friendly and knowledgeable."

"Mr. Couch was about 20 minutes late but called to let me know he had an emergency to tend to. The installation of the toilet went very smoothly & quickly. He even went up on my roof & re-sealed the sky light that was leaking @ no charge. Being disabled & a senior citizen that was a big help since the roofing company won't be able to get to me for another week or two. His price for setting a new toilet was also very reasonable. Mr. Couch is my go to plumber in the future. I highly recommend him."

Toilets FAQs, answered by experts

Some of the most common bathroom leaks include showers, sinks, and toilets. Most homeowners discover these leaks because of the chronic dripping sound faucets and showers make as water drips to the ground, but a leaky toilet will often appear as a puddle. Inspect your bathroom faucets, showers, and toilets every month to detect leaks quickly.

Yes, frozen pipes can prevent a toilet from working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which means your toilet tank won't be able to refill after a flush. This will prevent the toilet from flushing again. Depending on which lines are frozen, the ice can also block the drain pipe, preventing water from flushing away.

As a temporary workaround, you can manually add water to the tank for each flush. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try filling the toilet bowl or tank with warm water and flushing to help thaw the ice. However, the best long-term solution is to unfreeze the pipes to get your toilet back in working order.

First, check that you have cut off the water supply to your toilet. This is a project that can only be done safely if running water cannot reach your toilet fixture. If you're seeing water trickle out after you've confirmed that the water supply is shut off, you can probably rest assured that what you're seeing isn't a problem. It's common for leftover water to spill out when you're removing your toilet's fill valve. If something goes wrong while you're working on your toilet, you'll need to look at your home's policy to see if your homeowner insurance covers water damage.

Recaulk your toilet at least every five years. If you feel like your toilet is getting wobbly before that, it still might be time for a new caulking. Never directly place new caulk over existing caulk because that doesn’t produce lasting results. Also, caulking over existing moldy caulk does not kill out the mold by suffocating it, so if you have mold, be sure to get rid of it before recaulking.

Replacing a toilet costs between $275 and $480 in most cases, and the average cost sits around $375. This includes removing the old toilet and installing the new toilet. Your price could be significantly higher if you invest in a high-quality brand, need the replacement done on an emergency basis, or replace your toilet as a part of a larger bathroom remodel that demands additional work.
