"These guys did a great job. The tiles in my kitchen had popped up, but I had 18 extra tiles to use. The tile guys were able to save all the unbroken tiles so I still have 15 of my extra tiles left for the next time. They did a great job."

"Everything went well. Installers were quick and cleaned up after themselves. Ripped out existing laminate floor and and tile, installed marble on fireplace surround and wood floor in living, hallway, bedroom and laundry room."

"They did a great job on the tiling on the wall and floor of the half bath and fireplace surround. The reason for less than 5 rating is really due to cleanliness. I would have appreciated additional covering on floors and covering to reduce dust."

Small jobs welcome

"Ezequiel and his guys did an incredible job! Communicative, quick, and always on time. We noticed that the pattern on the tile work was incorrect in a few spots after they had finished and been paid. He came back and fixed it with no questions or complaints. Looks absolutely perfect. I would definitely use this company again!"

Small jobs welcome

"I was led to believe the job would take up to a day and a half to do and would be a lot more intricate and involved. I expected at least a couple of workmen. In reality, it amounted to Phil spending under 4 hours cleaning and applying sealer to my travertine tile floors. The price was in my opinion 4 times what I would have agreed to had I known the truth. I would not do business with him again."

"Connor has been great to work with. He did tiling in 2 of my bathrooms and did an amazing job. He is super meticulous and communicates well throughout the entire project. He texts and calls to confirm things and always makes sure he is doing things the way I want him to. I attached a before and after of my master bathroom. I’m still not quite done with it. I need to find mirrors and change out the sink faucets. Connor is definitely my go to Guy for home remodeling projects."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

There are several tools that you will use together to install tiles. Four of the most basic tools needed in tile installation include a notched trowel for applying tile adhesive, a tile cutter or saw for cutting tiles to size, tile spacers for creating the appropriate amount of space between tiles, and a grout float for applying grout.

Ceramic tile adheres best with premixed adhesive or mortar. If you’re installing the tile in an area with moisture, such as a bathroom or kitchen, opt for waterproof adhesive, and if you choose mortar, make sure it’s thick because that is the easiest to work with and ensures the tiles will sit flat.

Yes, it’s always a good idea to keep a box or two of spare tiles after a home renovation project. Tiles can crack from improper installation, heavy foot traffic, and impact from drops. Having some extra tile on hand can make replacement fast, easy, and affordable. Plus, some manufacturers might discontinue particular colors or styles, and slight variations in tile colors between batches could mean mismatched tiles even if your product isn’t discontinued. Having a few spare tiles in storage can help avoid these issues, as well.

You can lay tile directly on a plywood countertop, but if it’s a high-traffic surface in a kitchen, it’s better to add a moisture-resistant base. Plywood is susceptible to moisture, so if dampness seeps through from the surface around the sink or where you prep food, it can cause the plywood to warp, leading to grout damage, cracked tiles, or mold growth under the surface.

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.
