I have hesitated in writing this review for the longest time because Todd and Dane were such nice guys. I thought they were just unorganized, but I've learned so much more. We gave up hope that they would follow-through. But now I must warn others what you could be in for if you build a Southpaw pool. Our pool was completed in the early fall of 2016. It turned out beautiful and is still featured on their website. The price was better than the 6 other bids I took. Southpaw had just started their small business and as small business owners ourselves, we were excited to help a new business. Shortly afterward completion we started having significant problems: 1. Breaks in pipes (tanning ledge bubbler, skimmer bucket, water-fall fountain) 2. Glass tiles falling off elevated spa back - 3 times!! 3. A gas leak!!! 4. A shoddy concrete repair after leaks 5. Tile falling off spa itself 6. Now in 2024 - another broken pipe near the second skimmer. We just paid $2800 for that repair. I was hopeful when the response was swift on the first few repairs (bubbler pipe, 1st & 2nd glass tiles, gas leak). I proudly referred Southpaw to many friends and neighbors who built high-end pools and a pool remodel. However, as the months and years went by, the excuses grew about the (warranty) repair delays. Southpaw finally hired a project manager and a warranty guy who contacted me about the warranty items, so we were very optimistic! One was even an old friend. I knew I was in good hands. Turned out to be all talk, no action. Less than a year later and those guys were gone from the company. The second leaks took approximately 5 months to repair (broke long before the record freeze) and we couldnâ t use our fountains or a skimmer bucket that entire time, limiting the pool circulation. Leakology (awesome company) tunneled down and repaired the two broken pipes. No easy task on an elevated pool, but very professional, clean and fast. Southpawsâ s mason who repaired the hole with salt-finish concrete left 2 big red squares at tunnel repair - no where near the off-white color of our pool patios. The two year warranty ran out in late 2018, but because of my referrals and type of issues we were having, Todd assured me they would honor the warranty. They did pay for the very expensive plumbing repairs, but never showed back up for the patio repairs. We gave up and paid thousands for repairs and resurfacing in April 2022. No mason ever showed in 2 years to fix the big ugly red squares. Now in 2024, we just paid Leakoloy again to repair. In 2022, 1/3 of the glass tiles on my spa fell off. Obviously, broken glass is a hazard in a pool area. I practically begged them to repair. Then I simply asked them to just order the tiles (special order from wholesaler) and we will pay for them. After weeks of back & forth, I tried to order the tiles BUT the tiles comes from a manufacturer, I could not order direct. If I could have, it would have been done swiftly. We contacted the *pool builder who built a small pool at our lake house. He not only ordered the tiles for us, they sent an employee to promptly completed the repairs. No tiles have fallen off since! Lastly, my neighbor, whom I referred to Southpaw had her own warranty difficulties. Iâ m utterly embarrassed that I referred friends to Southpaw Pools. This pool is our fourth to build. Blue Haven, Bayside and *Texas Pools and Patios built all the others. Iâ ve never had any of these issues in nearly 30 years of building and owning pools! Just a buyer beware review.
