"Each time we have called them out, they were able to come out the same day. One of the jobs was on a laundry sink. It was a large mess and ended up being tricky, but they solved the problem. They was super thorough and the price has been reasonable each time. Overall, I am very pleased with the company and I will use them again."

"One of my new tenants kept having sewer issues...the washing machine backed up into the house, etc.  I had snaked it myself and we had called the city out twice to inspect the pipe going to the street.  On their second visit, they said we had roots in the line.  I immediately called Local Plumbing Service.  They were able to come out first thing the next morning and dug up the cleanout valve.  It had broken at the joint, allowing roots to find the water and grow inside, blocking the water flow.  They replaced the cleanout valve and a section of the pipe.  They showed me how the old pipe used a weaker type of material.  The new pipe was a little thicker and they had to install an adapter also to make the connection.  Everything was placed in a bed of sand and covered back up.  He even took special care to move some new plants out of the way to a shady spot while he was working.  I've been using this company now for several years and their service is top notch."

"From the first visit by Giovanni through the completion of the work as scheduled it was a positive experience. The crew came on schedule and worked very hard for a number of hours at the hand cleaning. I couldn't believe the dirty water accumulation as they worked. The floor never looked that bad. Next they colorized and sealed it with  (stated by Giovanni) a 15 year sealer. After waiting for it to dry they went back and cleaned it again to remove excess cleaner. Giovanni returned later to check it out. I had found an extra tile in the attic that must have been left over from the original installation. When I laid it on the floor it perfectly matched in color to the installed and cleaned tiles. The new lighter grout and scrubbed clean tiles make the floor look new again. We couldn't be happier. Since then we have completed the kitchen remodeling and the floor tiles fits in perfectly."

"I like the water filter they gave me. I can get the water straight from the tap. They gave me a free installation because I am an Angie's List member. All the salt is removed from my water. They told me if I referred anyone to them they would give me $500 credit. My skin feels better and all my food and coffee I make with my water taste better. Installing a salt filter is not as good because you end up loosing 300 gallons of water a month. One time I called to tell them my filter was leaking and they found everything was running and they didn't charge me."

"DAV Construction was hired to replace a damaged roof and gutters. They did a professional job of discussing the bid with me. However, this was more than a roofing job. I had an issue with water seeping through my second floor brick that continued to damage my interior and patio cover. We all thought it was a poor trim installation. Alex took a hard core position of helping me correct the problem. We had to repair any openings in the existing brick and applied a water sealant. I even had a phone call several months later after a heavy rain storm to see if we had any visible leaks. All was good and the extra effort was was high on the scale of taking care of the customer. I would personally recommend Alex and his team to anyone."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

If your kitchen is flooding, first turn off the water supply and electricity before entering the room. Next, focus on immediate flood control by cleaning up any standing water with a sump pump or wet-dry vacuum to prevent long-term water damage to your home. Open your windows and run any dehumidifiers you have handy. Finally, call a professional plumber to help find the source of the flood and repair it.

No, you don’t need to use plumber’s putty to install a sink drain. Other options are available, such as silicone putty or silicone caulk. Plumber’s putty is the traditional method and it’s easier to work with and easier to remove. It doesn’t need to dry before using. Silicone putty should dry before you use the drain.

The best material to use will depend on your budget and style goals. Fireclay is a great choice but is expensive and heavy. Stainless steel is less expensive and more durable, but lacks the wow factor a clay sink might. Copper is very expensive but lasts a long time and has a striking appearance. Those looking for an industrial look can go with concrete, or those looking for a classic design might choose porcelain.

Many homeowners stress about cleaning before an emergency plumber arrives, but you’re far better off doing the following while you wait for your plumber to get to your home:

  • Shut the water off at your water main if you have a leak or a burst pipe

  • Avoid using any water fixtures in your home, including appliances

  • Clear a path to the problem area so that it’s easily accessible

  • Consider shutting your breaker if you’re concerned that the leak may affect your electrical system

Hairline cracks—tiny cracks in the surface—in porcelain sinks can happen due to age, chemical damage from cleaning products, dropping heavy objects on the sink, thermal shock from drastic temperature changes, stress during repairs, and manufacturing errors. Hairline cracks often start very small and grow longer and wider over time. While they may appear problematic, hairline cracks don’t indicate structural problems and may not impact the performance of sinks. However, they can eventually cause water leaks and mold growth if left to grow.
